Today was a travel day. Taxi early in the morning to Somosomo, followed by a trip on a car ferry across the strait to Natuvu on Vanua Levu. Not a coconut crab
That's not a baby coconut crab but it is a kind of hermit crab indeed

It is a Coenobita and from what I can I believe it is rugosus.

That's is a normal Hermit Crab. Even baby Coconut crabs use shells.
