Singapura meaning Lion City is right at the bottom of South-East Asia and a good place to start as it's an East meets West type of place. We'd decided to treat ourselves to a hotel (at 55 GBP a night) so we were expecting quite a lot as this was 2-3 times the price of hostels in Oz.
