Some insight into her 'battle wounds'?

This turtle's left rear flipper is nearly non-existent. It appears to have been bitten by a shark some time in the past (hence her nickname 'cookie', given to her the first time she was tagged here, two years ago). We wonder if maybe she can't swim as fast and ends up with a lot more males trying to breed with her, resulting in the plethora of cuts and scars.
