Geo: 32.5985, -37.4388Its quite hard to blog about sea days as after a few they tend to merge into one. As at home we tend to develop certain routines and habits. We always venture out onto the balcony first thing and Peter brings the coffees which is very nice. We shave, shower and decide what to wear. Forecast for today is partly cloudy skies and a temperature of 22c (75f) degrees which is still very pleasant for us British folk.We have breakfast in the main dining room again before heading to the Imperial Lounge for the Trivia. We do ok. We surprise ourselves by getting some of the more obscure questions correct but kick ourselves for missing some of the easier/obvious ones. The main thing its all good fun and we learn a thing or two ... read more

We had our final day at sea. Shelly took the kayak in the morning and went over to the surf break and did a little kayak surfing. She did cut her leg a bit on the coral but had a blast. The captain then took us to an island that had showers and bathrooms,... and we spent 4 hours there. We got some great pictures with the palm trees. We snorkeled some and Shelly tried to surf kayak some more. After that, it was 3 hours back to the Male area. I wish we could have stayed somewhere else the last day and just motor'd in early. Instead we were in the harbor with all the other boats and in the flight path from the airport. We had dinner and just a lazy evening. Jamin and ... read more

Geo: 29.1122, -45.4397I awake slowly on this Sunday morning. Light is filtering beneath the curtains and there is still some motion to the ship although it has lessened from the night before. We take our time this morning. the Progressive Trivia does not start till 10am. As it's a Sunday we decide to breakfast on the balcony which means we can eat before we need to shave & shower. I think I have had Eggs Benedict every day of this cruise, I may have to try something different for a change. We make our way to the Imperial Lounge and make our apologies to the rest of the team for our absence the day before. We find out they did ok without us. Pete's Piranhas are one of the top 5 scoring teams (although we don't ... read more

Another lazy day in the Maldives. We started out at a sandbar and snorkeled for a while. We saw another sea turtle. The captain and first mate went octopus fishing and caught 3 of them. They also got several more fish off the back of the ship while we were traveling. We have fresh fish every night that has been caught during the day. After snorkeling, we had a 4 hour boat ride across the sea back to the atoll just below Male. We get to an island. the other 2 couples take off in the kayaks and Shelly takes off in the dingy with the first mate. They are in search of a surf board as there is a nice surf break that we can see. Shelly is not successful in her search. we have ... read more

Geo: 24.829, -52.1515I am wide awake at 4am this morning. There is significantly more creaking going on that normal and I can definitely feel some motion from the ocean. Shortly afterwards I hear Peter get up and leave the cabin. He can't sleep either. I arise and head out onto the balcony. It's just getting light. A crescent moon and a twinkling Venus hang in the pre-dawn sky. There are some large swells moving out across the ocean. The Captain later confirms that a storm off the east coast of the USA has stirred up the ocean hence the swells. They are not too bad and are coming at Adventure broadside and lifting the ship up and down in one motion, there is no pitching from bow to stern.I spend the early morning blog writing. Peter ... read more

Another day sailing thru the Maldives. It started out the same, head to a sandbar and snorkel. More beautiful fish and warm waters. I started to take more pictures but the underwater camera was acting funny so I stopped and just swam some. When I got back to the boat, I tried to figure out what was up but to no avail. I think a bit of water may have seeped into the camera. I lay it all out to dry and hope to get it back soon. Our next stop was another sand bar but this one was the turtle sandbar. oh, no, the camera is not working. we snorkel and see turtles. I found the one we all swam around. Luckily one of the other people on the sailboat had a camera in a ... read more

Geo: 21.3422, -57.7332I awake to the creaking sounds of a ship at sea. At least I hope it's the ship creaking and not my bones. Today is our first sea day of the crossing. We made steady progress north eastward through the night. The early morning temperature is still pleasantly warm as we are still in the sub-tropics. The days will get cooler now as we make our way towards the Azores.Sea days are strange days. Strange to look out from the balcony and know there is nothing before us but league after endless league of water. I have no idea what is lurking beneath the waves. Marine life out this far is likely to be Sailfish, Bluefin Tuna or migrating Whales and Turtles. I know for certain that the Azores is an excellent location for ... read more
