I should point out that this is the countdown for my flight to Bermuda, not for the Caribbean sail itself. That countdown may be considerably longer as Alex, the captain of the ship, has just given me a list of things that still need to be done to the yacht before we can set sail. This includes removing the headstay backing plate at the base of the mast, re-fit both the mast and headstay plates (once he gets the new ones made), re-core the foredeck, fit new water tanks, plus
a lot more. That’s not even half the stuff that needs doing! Nevertheless, I have faith that we shall set sail not long after I fly into Bermuda, which will be in...
I should introduce you properly to the crew. Well, there's me of course. I’ve already mentioned Alex, the captain of the ship. There is also a couple, Scott and Shannon. I have never met these two before but they seem lovely from the emails. We also have John (aka Ed), who again I’ve never met but Alex has assured me he is legendary! He’ll be joining us at some point in January. As far as I’m aware, Alex, Scott and Ed are all experienced sailors and will be able to look after us women folk whilst at sea. Finally there is Bob the boat, who although is in pieces at the moment, will be our home for 5 months come November.
