Dull damp morning, turned out a fine afternoon. Mr P. went into another fit, but this one quietly and privately in his own room and soon got over it. Quiet day, ship going along under a fair steady breeze, got colder towards the night. We three turned out about 12 o’clock and walked upon the Poop - moonlight and fine. 1 o’clock: Bar 29.58. Therm. 58º.

12 noon: Lat 41.55S & Long 30.42E. Days run 231 miles.

This diary is being kept during my voyage to Australia and back which I am undertaking for the benefit of my health and as a cure (light and inexpensive) for headaches. I left England on Thursday 18th April 1878.
