After partying all night we didn't even return to our room until 9:30pm. After that, the festivities continued, watching two nature films while I finished yesterday's blog and Karen lay sound asleep beside me on the bed. Many of our co-traveler's, unable to keep up with us, had given up after dinner and returned to their staterooms but not us. Unfortunately, the nightlife we live comes with a price and dawn at 7am is no match for the heavy curtains in our room and so we sleep. It's not until 9:15 that I awake and realize we have a date at 10am, the Cruise Critic Meet & Greet we had promised to attend. No time to lollygag! Surprisingly, we make it up one floor to the Lido and have a light meal, our usual. While we ... read more

Ahoy there, Mates! We are dropping anchor here for a few days. We have some good friends (Les & DeAnne McKay) coming to visit us tomorrow and staying here for a few days. Our time will be occupied being with them. We are so looking forward to being with them again. Our travel through the Panama Canal will begin when we return. Don’t turn your appetite off or loose your sea legs. It will require several blogs because besides going through the Canal, we also took a 6 hour excursion by bus and railroad around the canal, through Panama City, to Colon and ending up at Cristobal before being tendered back to the cruise ship. Lots to share in my on-going Show and Tell. So keep your life jackets on....they may seem bulky but if you ... read more

We’re getting there: first to Cartagena, Columbia as well as to a more healthy status. Whew! February 18th & 19th were spent sailing the high seas on board the Caribbean Princess. So much to see and do on this floating city. Our morning event was an unexpected situation. The Captain announced there was a very sick person (not me....YET) onboard who had to be removed by helicopter and taken to a hospital on shore. I forget where we were at sea or what country the person was flown to. It caused for a great gathering on the decks by many, many of the passengers. Sandy had a much better location for photos so most of these that I share with you are borrowed from her....thank you, Sandy. It took a long time for this entire process ... read more

Escape from the Arctic Arrived on time at the FLL airport where chaos reined. So many flights were delayed leaving that the corridors were teeming with people and bags. Decided to take a taxi which was a good call as some folks waited 45 minutes for the hotel shuttle. This was my least favorite BW hotel in the area but also the cheapest. Heading to the ship was a kerfufle. It was about 50 degrees and raining and the entire hotel was gathered with their luggage in the tiny lobby waiting for transportation to the ship. There were seven ships in port and so it took 1 1/2 hours to get to the port and through the embarkation process. Dropped our valuables in the room safe and headed to the Lido for lunch. Unlike my last ... read more

Going Dutch – Antilles That Is! December 2017 It has been a long time since I was last in and around the Caribbean Islands, as the region really isn’t on the top of my “must revisit” list. However, when Celebrity published their new sailing rates for this holiday month and I saw how dirt-cheap cabins were going for, I simply couldn’t resist. And so I begin my next adventure by flying into San Juan, capital city of Puerto Rico. I know, I know……I had reservations about flying there after the recent hurricane devastation same as everyone else, but as tourism is the life blood of this tropical island, everything possible is being done to get back to normal. Hotels are reopening, cruise terminals have been repaired and airlines are returning to regular flight schedules. What’s the ... read more

It appears the paragraphing problem reoccurred in yesterday’s blog when there were some pictures inserted. I think it got fixed this morning, but you may have seen the old version. Sorry. This morning we got up with less sleep, but nobody is likely to feel sympathetic to us. Someday we will get that hour back before the cruise is over. Anyway, we went to the Dining Room for breakfast and had a leisurely meal (bacon & eggs and pancakes & ham). Then it was off to the Knitters & Knatters meeting, where Janet was able to finish the scarf she has been making in preparation for New Year’s Eve evening. Meanwhile David went to the Fitness Center again and walked 40 minutes on the treadmill and then 20 minutes on the track. We met again in ... read more

Hello Everyone! I'm trying out a new way to send out my travelogue. This way I can even attach a map! Unfortunately I can't place the photo's in the text. So not sure if I will like this format or not, but going to try it! We had our Annual Holiday dance on Thursday, 14 Dec. (see pictures!). It was well attended & great fun. This year we also allowed folks to BYOB & we enjoyed a lovely social visit after dancing. We had saved back some of the finger foods for more eating afterwards!! Friday I spent packing all day! Hadn't had time to do anything before, so really did take me all day! Luckily I had my lists, so knew what I needed. Not too complicated this time since we were heading on a ... read more

Geo: 23.637827, -83.147212 Today was our last day at sea. Once again we slept in. This was our last day on the cruise. I got up before Nikki and went and sat on the balcony. Nikki packed and then we got ready to go to breakfast. We at in the Solarium Bistro today. Then we were off to play Trivia in Schooner Bar. This was general trivia and it was really difficult. After trivia we went up to deck 15 to get in the pool for a while. It was a beautiful sunny day and it was nice just to relax in the water. Nikki wanted to sit in the hot tub as well. The hot tub is against the window overhanging the side of the ship and it has an infinity edge so it was ... read more

We took the morning at a snails pace. We had decided that we were going to skip breakfast today because we were so full. We headed down to the Royal Promenade to do a little shopping and then wandered the ship until Johnny Rockets opened for lunch. Once they opened, we had an early lunch. After lunch it was time for Star Wars Trivia in On Air. We did pretty well for only knowing about the first three Star Wars movies. Trivia was followed by sitting on the balcony of our stateroom and then getting in our swimsuits. We stopped by Schooner Bar to play Broadway Tunes trivia before heading up to deck 15 to swim. We spent time there before heading down to get ready to dinner. Dinner was in 150 Central Park. We had ... read more

We took advantage of not having to be anywhere early and slept in. I was up before Nikki and sat on the balcony and played on my tablet for a while until she got up. After getting ready we decided to head to the American Icon restaurant for breakfast. Then we went to Scooner Bar to play Entertainment Trivia. It was fun but we are not quite as adept at general triva knowledge as we are at Disney trivia. We hung around the ship for a while not really doing anything but being lazy. Lunch was in in Park Cafe where we had sandwiches and salad. Then it was off to another trivia game, this time in On Air and was Movie Quote trivia. We did pretty well this time but still didnt win. We were ... read more
