Lobos Cay Lighthouse
Finally found out what this lighthouse is, 11 miles from coast of Cuba, part of Bahamas. Very secluded, thought it might be Hogsty Reef at first. We're back home now. Showed up in Columbus with 24 degrees and several inches of snow on the ground wearing almost nothing. Wandering around the long term lot at Columbus Airport trying to find the car, then finding it after 5 minutes of walking around, Jennifer an icicle. The thing was covered in a 4 inch layer of snow and half inch of ice. No scraper, umbrella handle had to do. Rear wheel drive, she would not come out of the space, some chiseling with the umbrella handle got us out. Ohio is great. We get back to the house. I geared up and shoveled snow for a half hour, got the car in the garage. Ohio is great. Welcome back. Just got Tama's message, too late, we had already flown back.
New photos, videos and maps are posted to the previous entries.
Last Day at Sea
Before I get into what we did, I have to touch on the attached photo which is one of the many towel origamis Gloria made on our trip and was of course our favorite because it is a monkey. Jennifer tried to sleep with it since Big George was not available
Toalla Monkey
Toalla means towel in Spanish. Inside joke. but his arms and legs fell off and his head disintegrated. Whoops.
It was nice to at least have this last day so there is some time to recover. We dedicated this day to all of the activities we had not had a chance to do before, namely:
- Rock Climbing
- Dodgeball Tournament
- Sunbathing
- Basketball
By far the best was dodgeball, we had been planning on this one since the second day and we show out ready to play and would have made Patches O'Houlihan proud. I was the first one out on our team in the first game and we lost, the first team to lose. We then went on a streak that took us to the finals where we lost to the undefeated team. So we all got silver medals which I think are actually Platinum medals. We were also known as "Florida Consolidated" because Bob would not allow us to be called the "Gators". Guess it was worth the sacrifice since Bob made two game winning catches. I also sealed the deal on a game, catching out a girl and then nailing the remaining one. There is no shame in winning
Dodgeball!
If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball! . . . especially at dodgeball.
We went rock climbing on the back of the smokestack next with Jennifer going first and going up that thing like a little spider monkey. I told the guy to free fall drop her back to the ground which got her good. Bob went up next despite a messed up forefinger from dodgeball. I was last and only made it half way up, my theory being that there are two types of primates, those that live in trees and those that don't. And there you go okay.
Final Dinner
We were a bit late as we had only earlier that day discovered the Starship Enterprise lounge that overlooks the whole ship and is an unmistakable trademark of most Royal Caribbean ships from the exterior. We saw a great sunset from up there. See the photos.
The best meal of them all in relative terms, another great service experience from the staff and we had to get pictures with everyone of them. Also, our table was not just the three couples but also Gary and Ann from Michigan who had to politely listen to our catching up dialogue for most of
Silver Medalist Team
The second best team out of 3000 potential on board. the time. They were really great dinner mates and we seemed to run into them everywhere. Wish we could have had a better chance to get to know them.
