Adam and I go rock climbing a couple times a week...we are insane..and it is insanely fun
it's very weird...classes are almost over.. we are hitting the home stretch so to speak. I'm very excited to come home- I miss you all!!!- but at the same time, i will miss australia when i leave. sydney is a beautiful city- i love sitting by the water and going to the beach- but i will really miss the countryside...The long drive trips I've gotten to do have been amazing. The people I've met have been incredible, and I feel so priveledged to hang out with the people i do. As the famous philosopher Bill once said to Ted, in the [View Full Entry]

Here’s the thing about the metric system. I know that it makes more sense. I understand that everything can fold up nicely into its next logical unit. I get the beauty and simplicity of things divisible by powers of 10. But what no one tells you is that all the logic in the world can’t override what you feel. I can pretty much accurately tell you when I’ve walked a mile. I can just feel it. Likewise I can eyeball a glass of water and come close to telling you how many ounces are in it. This is because my ordinary [View Full Entry]

Gratis aftensmad + pool... Ja, I laeste rigtigt.. Hi guys - well its all been a bit manic of late, with little oppurtunity to blog - we set off on the bus which is an assortment of honeymooners (weird eh), canadian nurses and a few germans. First stop Corfs harbour - a long long drive - most of the day with activities on the bus such as kareoke gggrrrrrrrrr. Arrived at our destination - a fantastic hotel with all the mod cons/ huge swimming pool/ on the beach tennis courts - the lot. Unfortunately only had time for a quick dip until dinner - shortly after most people went [View Full Entry]

O.k. - here are more of the photos that I promised to download!!! They're all self explanatory!! The big boat that's currently sitting in Taranaki Wharf , HMNZS Wellington is going to be sunk off the southern coast in November to become a divewreck!!! Sorry there aren't any pictures of me but I'll see what I can do for next time!!! Hey everyone- Good news, I spent my final night at Wellington City YHA watching Whale Rider (without falling asleep!!!) in the common room and by 9.30 this morning moved into permanent accommodation. I'm here!

Oceania » New Zealand » North Island » Auckland
Kia Ora! I arrived in Auckland early this morning after a very long flight and having missed Monday completely. The flight itself actually went by fast even though I only managed to sleep about five of the 12.45 hours. I am glad to be here at last, but I am anxious to find a place to stay as well as a job. Tomorrow I have my orientation and then I am hoping to start the job search. The way I see the sooner I find a quasi-permanent residence I can find a rugby team to play with :) Auckland is different [View Full Entry]

Adrenaline time

Oceania » New Zealand » North Island » Rotorua
On arriving at Spa lodge, Rotorua, we immediately booked into a whitewater rafting trip down the Wairoa river - reputed to be one of the most challenging commercially rafted rivers in NZ with multiple grade 5 rapids - as this was only available on Sundays due to dam release schedules. The following morning our guides picked us up and drove us about an hour to the river. With only me, Toni and our guide in our raft we really had to work hard to keep the raft moving in the right direction. Somehow we made it down without flipping the raft [View Full Entry]

Map Flew out of Hong Kong at Chap Le Kok international airport, (you know, the one where they bulldozed an island to reclaim some land), and arrived at Melbourne for a couple of hours before re-boarding and sitting next to a lovely looking petite girl. We slowly starting talking and getting on really well. Kim's from Aus, 24, listens to Def Leopard, and is on a 2 day business trip working for Kraft, (the cheese people!). Anyway, we were getting on so well we arranged to meet later on that night, for a meal and drinks. After getting [View Full Entry]

I emailed my music final to my prof last night. It went pretty well. I also turned in my Listening Diary, which is worth 80% of the grade, last week, and I wrote a choice essay on Jimi Hendrix. I will email it home soon. Today Paul, Toss, and I are gonna decide where we wanna go on the road trip. Also, I'm working on putting some better speakers into the van. Nothing special or expensive. Jon, from telecom, has some old speakers he will give me and Hamish knows how to install car audio stuff, so it should work out [View Full Entry]
