Indeed it was a huge storm. In the morning it rained a lot and was still quite windy. Many branches of trees uprooted and some flooded sidewalks. I have moved to the new hostel, a street below, in the storm and got quite wet. Later the skyr has cleared and the sun came out, I made some shopping downtown , mainly some souvenir, a new Swiss Army knife (the former one remained in Easter Island), and a bottle with a active carbon filter, to use together with purification tablets when you have to drink from puddles. I took advantage of the good weather to catch the bike and ride a while. On the way to Mount Eden I stopped at a bike shop with clearin offers, there I have started to inquire about something to a mechanic, and has happened to be a guy from madrid trying his luck in these part of the world. In the end I 've purchased some new brakes, and mounted a new chain on (the previous one, mounted in Santiago de Chile, is already kaputt after just 2500km) . Mt Eden has proven to be a very obvious volcano with a large crater at the top, and from its top you look to the complete Auckland. Hence down and to the hostel. I called the airport to see how it looks like with bike boxes, apparently there may be some or not, nobody can be sure.
