After six wonderful months of exploring parts of the world we have only read about, today we finally headed home. Back in April it was a really exciting feeling as we buckled ourselves into our seats at the start of our adventure. Today the excitement was for a different reason, we were going home. We needed the alarm today to wake us in time to prepare for our 6:50 am flight. It has been the trip of a lifetime with such wonderful memories. Someone recently asked us to name the top two highlights. This was an almost impossible task because there were so many. Perhaps it was the art such as the statue of David or The Last Supper. Maybe famous palaces: the Ahlambra or Hampton Court. We visited churches in many cities, finding Gaudi’s church ... read more

Daniel was picked up from the airport with his bike - and the boys headed straight for the hills! I headed home and rather rapidly turned our nice neat house (thanks family!) into a bomb-site, while showing off all our new purchases to my family. We really noticed so many differences in NZ after coming back from overseas - like the lack of cars on the road, and the room everywhere, and how big our house is!!!! (compared to ... read more

Only 12 hours until my first flight leaves... I've realised that trying to get 4 months worth of stuff into one travel pack is not easy (consider about 5 attempts at repacking everything - and one mild hissy fit where I actually threw everything across the room because it wouldn't fit!) but I think it's finally all done now. All I have to remember now is passport and tickets - I think I'm the queen of multiple lists, I'm probably psychotically prepared but I have to be to keep myself sane! Anyway, the next time I write I will hopefully have found my way to Los Angeles and will be enjoying all the fun and excitement of Disneyland. Wish me luck, until next time...... read more

I picked up my tickets yesterday so the countdown has definately begun. Only 12 days until I embark on my first solo overseas experience!!! It's been great doing all the planning safely at home, but I have to admit to being a bit scared of getting on that giant plane all by myself. I'm sure it will be great and I'll have a fantastic time. So to everyone reading this blog - stay tuned, soon it will be recounting my tales of Disneyland, lions, lemurs and more!... read more
