So, i ended up going to see Terminator Salvation, as it was the first thing about to play when i got the the cinema. I will say nothing other then it was great, and i cant wait for its dvd release. and i cried, but i guess that last bit isnt really much of a surprise to most.
I also ended up watching the simpsons movie that night, and cant help but wonder WHAT HAPPENED TO THE PIG!?????????
Yesterday i finally got to board a bus heading to Milford Sound, and i will admit that i slept until about the small town of Te Anu (which means either glowworm caves or fast rushing water, depending on who you talk to), which is about 2 1/2 hours away from queenstown. From there we carried on through the Fiordlands, which had just entered into their hazardous season (we were driving on the most avalanch prone highway in NZ, and one of the most dangerous in the world; which i survived XD); the Firodlands are really quite spectacular, especially when you enter into the mountain belt which is part of what makes the famous. We stopped at a place called mirror lake, where the water so calm and clear that it perfectly reflected its surroundings. We got to Milford Sound, boarded a boat, and were served rather nasty sandwhiches and hot tea. I went up to stand on the top of the boat, ended up being the couples photographer, met a somewhat suggestable german girl and from there we were running around the boat, sometimes taking silly pictures (and yes, we took a titanic picture). The ship's captain announced info about the area. and anything of particular interest when we got close. We sailed to the mouth of the bay, where it connects to the ocean, and then turned around. on our return trip, we saw fur seals, a pod of bottle nosed dolphins, and stopped under a waterfall which soaked everyone on the very bow of the boat. Whom i laughed at with misted over glasses.
I was dropped off in Te Anu for the night (was the only one of the bus who was) and met an american couple from Texas, along with their 4 children. We were all planning on going to the Glowworm caves, which blew greymouths out of the water. the guides were much more knowlgdable, and answered all my questions regarding the little guys. Who are kind of gross. But when we were taken undergfround through the cave system, and placed in these little boats (which our guide moved by pulling us along on cables), it really did look like someone rearranged the constalations and pushed them down close to us. it was pretty amazing.
Unfortunatly, this is the one week that the startour for the southern hemisphere is down, otherwise i would be spending another night to learn all about the differnet constalations and the like. This just means i'll be leaving the little town of Te Anu for Queenstown today, and then probably moving on to another small town or the next major stop on my bus tour...
