Invercargill

After getting through the sheep we headed farther south to Invercargill. Most people I have talked to say this town is shitty but I didn't think it was that bad. As we drove into town we were thinking of going to Stewart Island the next day but ended up not because of the weather. But while we were driving into town about lunch time we heard that Subway was giving away Rugby tickets to the Otogo vs. Southland game that was going to be the next night. So we headed to Subway for lunch and at the front of the line I asked lady working what the deal was with the deal was with the Rugby tickets and she told me that every 10th person got 2 tickets. So I asked how close we were to getting them and she said are you two paying together or seperate and I said I don't know and she told me that sandra would be the 10th if we were seperate so I told her that we would pay seperate. Then she gave me two tickets to the game and then I paid for both subs. This was on thursday and the game was

friday night so we had to figure out what to do for time inbetween. First we found a place to stay, one of the top 3 backpackers we stayed in. Then we headed down to Bluff which is the southern most town on the south island. We went and saw the end of the highway where there is a sign pointing to all the big places around the world and some local ones too. And then we had our little car climb up this steep road to a lookout to see Stewart Island. That ended the first night.

The next day we slept in a little and then headed to the Invircargill Brewery but they didn't look too welcoming for tours so we skiped that place and went to i-site (information center) to find out where the stadium was and what else we could do. We ended up walking around the gardens next to the i-site which would have been really nice but it was not the right time of year so not many flowers. We did see a ton of Tui though. I took a video of them you can see it at:

After the garden we went to the city pool and sat in the spa and steam room and did a couple laps untill I realized that I still have a weak leg. Once I was bored of the pool we went and found some of the Invercargill Brewery beer but ended up getting the Cider that they make which was ~7%. It was not what we expected in that it wasn't sweet it was more like a wine taste. Then we headed to the Rugby game and found the area of dirt that our tickets told us to stand on and watched Otogo cream Southland.

At the place that we stayed at we met this couple from Australia. They cool people and had a great lifestyle. They are both substitute teachers and they travel around the world to english speaking countries and make thier living teaching where ever they are.

This place was like it was in the US in the 70's. They carfully placed the ketchup packets so they looked nice.
