Hi everyone! I know we just sent a blog a couple of days ago, but we've had some lovely excursions up to Arrowtown to check out the beginnings of the autumn foliage. We also discovered (THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!!!!) an amazing restaurant that gives us a taste of home...and the funny thing is, it's French! Arrowtown has this amazing little cafe called "Bonjour" that serves absolutely the yummiest food we've had in this country, hands-down. I went last week and sat under the crisp leaves and devoured Burgundy snails drenched in garlic butter with fresh-baked baguette. Yesterday afternoon Jeremy and I went up and I nearly cried when I bit into my croque madame poulet - toasted French bread topped with chicken and melted cheese, smothered in creamy bechamel sauce, and topped with a fried egg. It was a true symphony for the taste buds!! Jeremy indulged in a gluten-free savory crepe stuffed with prosciutto, raclette cheese, and potatoes. We thought we'd died and gone to heaven. Needless to say, we will be returning there on a VERY regular basis...
The photos in here are from my hike last week amongst the slowly-turning leaves. They apparently don't peak for another
couple of weeks, but it was still a heck of a lot more colors than we ever see back home! Aside from admiring the scenery, we're busily looking for other jobs here in Queenstown, and we'll see what comes up. On a brighter note, we've found accommodation from someone in our congregation in the form of a one-bedroom flat, which will be available next month - perfect!! So our housing crisis is solved, now we just need new jobs...
On a totally unrelated note, we went "shopping" yesterday to check out prices on winter clothing and snowboarding gear. Never have I felt so out-of-place as I did walking into a ski shop and glancing around in total and utter confusion at foreign things such as boots, wool, skis, snowboards, thermals, and all sorts of things I'd never even heard of. We wandered aimlessly for about fifteen minutes before realizing that we're going to need some help - a LOT of help! Two Floridians spending a winter in Queenstown...we're such idiots. This is going to be entertaining, if nothing else. Jeremy wanted, just as a joke, to apply for a job as a "snow-maker" at the ski field. Can you
imagine? They'd take one look at our passports and laugh. Floridian snow-makers. Come on, it would make a great story...
On another totally unrelated note, we were watching a movie the other day and were shocked at how bizarre it looks to see a car drive on the right and have the driver's seat be on the left. Somewhere in the space of the last four months, we've totally gotten used to driving on the wrong side, like we never even knew a different way of driving. Not sure when that happened, exactly. Definitely didn't see that coming!
So anyway, that's it for now. Jeremy attended a huge air show on Saturday (www.warbirdsoverwanaka.com if you want to check it out), and he got some great shots and stories for you guys, so he should be doing a blog sometime soon to share all of that with you. We've made plans to spend three days up at Milford Sound from the 18th-20th, so hopefully we'll have some great weather and be able to get some nice shots for you guys!! Love and miss you all, hope all is well back home...

Pretty pics!
Autumn leaves are always spectacular, or so I'm told (being a native Floridian myself, I've never actually seen them in person!). I'm planning on heading to Pennsylvania sometime in October to see the change of leaves myself ... I can't wait!!! :O) I'm sure you will love the colors. Glad you found a restaurant with some food you like. Take care and say to Jeremy and Hungry and the gang for us!
