Travelled from the Abel Tasman via St Arnaud and the Wiarau Valley to Kaikoura. Very scenic in parts (Janet is getting good and taking shots on the move)

East coast route followed the coast and railway line. Stopped off to watch seals playing in the water and basking on the beach.

Driving through this part we went past all kinds of fruit orchards

This was wine country in a big way. Some of them were about 3 kms long. Didn't stop as Jim was driving

Once we hit the coast road there were several spots where seals and pups were swimming and sunbathing

Much of this road ran parallel to the railway line and we crossed it in several places
