Well, on Wednesday, we left Queenstown and went through to Dunedin, which was first settled by Scots, hence it's name. Most of the streets are named after Scottish places and streets, and the city itself is modelled on that of Edinburgh. Here we only had one interest, and that was of course Cadbury's world! We arrived in Dunedin around half 1ish or so, and after checking in and sorting ourselves out, we headed into town for a quick walkabout and lunch, before our 75minute tour of Cadburys World, commencing at 3pm. That, did not disappoint. We got lots of free samples and I think I will have eventually ate my weight in chocolate when I'm finished with them, and there was a chocolate waterfall too, which was rather impressive :) We didnt do much tonight, and all had light tea's (soup) due to the amount of chocolate consumed! The hostel we stayed in was very nice, and warm for a change! After dinner we each used the internet and gathered round to watch round 20 of super league on the internet, then er...played bingo. Lol. It wasn't as bad as it sounds!
The following day, we left at 8am and
today we were off to Lake Tekapo. We began the day by walking up the Worlds steepest Street, which wasn't too bad. Though a local guy runs up it 30 times a day. Which would be pretty damn tough. Oh, and he just so happens to be 53. Puts us to shame! Lol. Back on the bus and we each rewarded ourselves with a bar of chocolate for our hard work. It was a nice day out, with the sun shining down, so we were all in good spirits as a result. The driver also had decent taste in music, which is probably a first, and so we all sang along to that too. We stopped at a beach with some boulders, that are a bit of a mystery to how they were formed apparently, and had a break of 30 minutes here. There were a few other photo stops along the way, and we stopped at a salmon farm where I got a fillet of Salmon for dinner for $3.50, which is just under 2 pounds.. so not bad at all. We then arrived in Lake Tekapo, around 3ish, which was to be our overnight stop. We all had
an early dinner because was STARVING and then was meant to go on a Stargazing tour at an Observatory, which looked rather impressive. We waited outside in the cold for our pick up, which was meant to be at 7.45, but the guy showed up just after 8 to say it wouldnt be running tonight as it was too cloudy. That was abit disappointing but on the positive side we saved $65, so it's not all bad.
And that brings me uptodate to today, which is Friday the 11th. We had a "lie in" this morning and only had to get hte bus at 8.30! Wow. Lol. We were heading to Christchurch today which was to be our final destination. The bus journey wasnt a long one, with just one stop for breakfast in the morning, and then we arrived in Christchurch around 12.30ish or so I think. We also stopped at CookieTime just on the outskirts of Christchurch, which is a big cookie brand here, and isusually about $3 a cookie, but this was like the factory outlet kind of thing and everyone stocked up. I think we got 3 massive bags for $10, which isnt even 5
pounds. And these are big bags! Today we've not done alot in Christchurch. Just mooched around really and went the supermarket to get stuff in for the next couple of days. We was going to go on the tram and everything today but it was $14! And we'd only use it for half the day, so it's better to pay for that tomorrow and make the most out of it. That's all for now ..I'm off to cook cause Im starving. Tera!
