In Cathedral Square The drive to Blenheim was absolutely gorgeous, right along the coast, passed a seal colony which i think is the largest one in New Zealand. I only spent one night in Blenheim which i think was enough time really as it is a tiny place. I tried to book a wine tour however was too late in the day so ended up just strolling about town and enjoying the sunshine. My hostel is extremely quiet and im the only girl staying. It feels a bit lonely and there is no lock on my dorm door so for the first time in my trip I used my door wedge to make me feel better. Of course I was fine, I think im still getting used to being on my own again after the girls have gone.
NELSON
Nelson seems like a great wee town. Its very arty and has a relaxed atmosphere about it. I love the hostel im staying in which makes a huge difference to how you see the place. Im only supposed to be here for 5 nights but ended up booking an extra night. Apart from enjoying it here its nice to be able to put

I felt like Julie Andrews up here! my backpack down for a few days! I visited the Abel Tasman National Park on a day trip from here. I took the bus which was a couple of hours and then a water taxi out to Anchorage Bay. I then hiked it back which took about 3-4 hours. There was only me and 1 other english guy whos company I was quite glad of in the end up as it was just the two of us and the forest is a very quiet place sometimes. It was a pleasant walk with beautiful views over golden beaches. I guess the only thing that spoiled it was the need to make daft small talk as there was only the two of us - I think i knew my walking partner better than he knew himself by the end of the 4 hours :-) He was only 19yrs old and glad to get rid of me probably haha.
Apart from that my time in Nelson was pretty quiet, just relaxing, eating, shopping, drinking etc etc...... I did do a hike up to the top of a hill which is famous for being the exact centre of New Zealand. Great views, felt very

a Bulgarian band Austrian (?) and really did feel like Julie Andrews up there. I almost burst into song a couple of times :-)
CHRISTCHURCH
Back in Christchurch for my flight out to Australia. Ive changed my flights and am now flying out a week or so earlier than planned. There was a couple of reasons for this , one of them being the weather!! I just cant take the cold anymore and im desperate for a bit of warm sunshine. I say warm because even though its sunny here in NZ its still not warm enough!! Also, although there is still lots thats I havent seen in New Zealand, I feel as if I have spent enough time here now and have covered quiet a bit already. New Zealand is so easy to get around and so compact that you can see loads in a short space of time but I think 6 weeks has been ideal.
My last few nights in Christchurch were spent having a few drinks with a lovely Swedish girl, Sophie. She knew a few people already staying in the hostel so we had a few good nights although i have to say they are a

a glimpse of the golden sands through the trees as we walk bit too fond of the old drinking games!! We went to a karaoke bar and although you will all be pleased that I didnt put anyone through the agony of listening to me sing, I did get up on stage as a very poor backing singer :-) Our drinking group consisted of a Mexican, Swedish, Scottish, Irish and English person so it was interesting to say the least. Sophie is a fascinating person, having been travelling and working all over the world for 2 years. I had a great time listening to all her stories, too many to mention here! The Mexican guy, Daniel and the Irish girl Jen have been a couple for a few years and met while working on cruise ships which they still do - this was also the basis of some strange stories!
So anyway that is me finished with New Zealand for the time being and im off to sunny Australia. Some peope might have noticed that my stories from here are not as wacky as some of the ones which took up my American Blog, that is simply because the people here are more normal, just like in Scotland :-) I know
im a bit behind with my blog but i promise to get updated with OZ asap x x x x
