I’M HERE!!!! So the flight wasn’t all that bad. We had full range over what movie, TV show, animation or documentary you could think of. Yes I did was 1.5 hrs of CSI. I was in heaven. I got extremely lucky by finding two people I recognized from Santa Cruz and just so happened we were sitting a row in front of each other. I switched seats with the girl in their row and the 3 of us did the flight together. And an added bonus one of the girls Kat is going to Christchurch via the train, so I now have a train buddy as well. Our flight attendant was so awesome, adorable kiwi accent and funny as all get out. Both Kat and I had our stuffed traveling companions with us and the flight ... read more

Why did i even doubt it?? I rolled into Wellington faster than if i drove it myself. I got 4 different rides. It was 4 and half hours here. Way cool people. I waited all of 90 seconds for this last ride and he took me all the way to the front door of my hostel. Incredible.... I am at the southern tip of the north island. Wellington is such a cool city. Cuba st is way cool. This city reminds me of Vancouver in a lot of ways. But today was a good day. It was one of those days dez you talk about. Unbelievable.. In every way. Jumped in the plane and it took 15 minutes to get up to 12,000 ft. i watched the two girls ahead of me drop out of the ... read more

Hi everyone, Come on. we know it's cold and miserable back in the UK and you're all probably fed up, but please send us something even if its just to let us know you're still alive! We'd love to hear from you, even if its to be rude Karen :-) We're still travelling down the east caost of North Island and are now at Ohope Beech near Whakatane pronounced Fuckatane which John has to keep saying at every opportunity, can't think why. The beaches are glorious here andoff camp sites we were at last time near Roturura at Blue Lake, We spent a very hot day visiting the geysers one of which shoots about 25 metres into the air; quite awesome as we could feel the earth moving!! Tomorrow we move on down to Gisborne and ... read more

Fri. 13th. Jan. After Jim being refused entry into Australia, on our connecting flight to New Zealand, a nice man at Santiago airport organised a direct flight to Auckland for us. The BA promised visa was a porky. We arrived in Auckland at 5:00 a.m. after a very pleasant flight, arranged our hotel in the airport, and caught the shuttle bus to the door, effortless! Spent the day getting our bearings and sorting out an Oz visa at the embassy. Then to the top of Sky Tower for our evening meal, and to watch the city go from day to night. Sat. 14th. Walked around Auckland and are very impressed with the cleanliness, traffic discipline and the quietness of such a big city. The people are so friendly, and , Halleluah! we can understand them. Well, ... read more

Well, Hello Much news from down under Have i mentioned how great this place is?? Perfect So i will start from where i left off.... My last day in Rotorua i was walking down the street , just minding my own business, minding my own business right, yeah.... and .....just kidding ( eddie murphy comedy cd) I was walking back from a run in the domain (park) and i heard this music. It was chanting, native music. My heart lept and i walked towards the sound. As i got closer i knew it wasn't Navajo but from the continent. In this central plaza area there were two girls dancing their native dance (healing dance) (Cree from the northlands of Canada) It was so cool to see and it made me miss the Navajo land and people ... read more

So then guys, Kia Ora, just what you've all been waiting for my Auckland update! Well, against all references I think the place is quite nice but a week is about as long as is needed and of course most places would seem nice after 28 hour in the air! The journey here (once i escaped Kev's flat on a ladder - long story) was okay as its actually lots of short trips with breaks for you to walk around airports, in pointless circles, from the Middle East to Brunei (which i can confirm for Jo and Vera is north east of Indonesia). Since the jet lag eased i've been to the Zoo which was actually a more like a park with animals where you spend the whole time wondering quite how difficult it would really ... read more

Tried fishing again this morning, no success, but our casting is improving. Travelled back stopping in Auckland to check out the "Well dressed outlet mall". I am now the proud owner of a "muscle shirt", which makes me look neither fat nor particularly gay. All I need now is a bit more muscle. Amy didn't buy anything. The best piece of divine retribution occured on the way here, some twat in a toyota "SUV" jobby honked at me when I didn't pull out into a gap in traffic that he though was big enough (personally I don't want to risk the $1500 excess on the reantl car). After pulling acouple of dodgy overtaking manouvers, he disappeared into the distance. As we come onto New Zealands only bit of dual carriageway, wnet passed a Police criuiser who ... read more

After an overnight sail from Auckland, the ship anchors in Bay of Islands on a partly-cloudy morning. Our breakfast entertainment is a school of dolphins playing in the bay. They leap out of the water, their shiny bodies glistening in the morning light. Then, they dive under the water and back out, this time jumping over each other in the air. What a show! We continue our breakfast on the balcony watching the bay slowly come to life with all types of pleasure boats starting out for a day of fun. Many of them come close to our ship to check us out and there is much waving back and forth. Alan and I take the tender to Russell, a quaint town of timbered buildings. Large trees with long leafy branches shade the pebbly beach. There ... read more

Figured should start heading back North if we were to return by Tuesday (It's a bank holiday weekend for those of you who think we are slacking; you know who you are!). Took a quick detour via the tourist info to book accomodation after last nights escapades. And headed up Mt Egmont, a serious maontain at 2.5km high, could see snow on top. Views a bit Lord of the Rings like. Drove up North along the "Forgotten World Highway" It was like driving through Jurrasic park, even the bit where they is chased by the T-rex (although that might have been drug induced in this case.) Made it out of the jungle after guzzling half a tank of petrol (fortunatly read the leaflet which said fill up before you go, otherwise would currently be crapping in ... read more
