Road Tripping The North Of New Zealand

Woke up early so we could say goodbye to Niall and Suz wanted to catch them before they went to work...Awww going to miss those two, weve become really good friends! We made a Christmas card out of paper and letf it onthe table for them when they return from work, hehe!!
Left Blenhiem at 9.45 to get the bus to Picton then the boat to Wellington. Was on the boat at the bar and there was this old guy talking to this couple about his life, he kept saying Bloody every other word he said, he was so funny, we were listenen in on there convo, could of listened to him all day,lol! The ferry ride was 3hrs arrived at Wellington and hired a car.
Driving around for ages trying to find a hostel to stay in, finally checked into YHA right in the center, got a double room because we thought we would get a tv in the room as out favorite film was on The Elf Got into the room and there was no tv, Kirsty was in such a mood as the room was quite exspensive aswell.
Went to the tv room to see wat was happeneing down there but everyone was watching a film so we went to look around the town. Its a well nice town, loads of shopes, resturants and bars etc. Wellington is sooooo windy we did get warned about how windy it was going to be!
Went back to the hostel tv room to see if the film had finished and it had!!! Yaaaay!! We were so excited because we love The Elf film, its the best Christmas film ever!!! Its so Funny!!

Got up was checking out at 10, we were going to spend the day in Wellington but the weather was so bad with wind and rain, you couldnt even walk with your brolly up as it would turn inside out....Woooooooo, lol!!
So headed up North to find some better weather. Drove to Napia was such a nice place it has a beach next to the town, spent the day here, just walked around the town and had some lunch, then headed off to find somewhere to stay, we were driving down all these windy roads and came across a camping area, beutiful place, had a lake and was surrounded by tress, do thought we'd rough it in the car again...Woooo!!!
It started to hammer down with rain and became really windy again,lol. we set up the car with all the scarfs in the windows and got into are sleeping bags and went to sleep!!
Kirsty woke up in her sleep and thought someone was in the car, like shes does...haaaa!! she thought there was a shadow infront of her and was trying to touch it, hehe!! Shes nuuuts!!!

21st Dec 08

Had such a good night sleep apart from Kirsty waking up thinking there was someone in the car, no aches,lol!! Freshened up and had something to eat. We were Driving along these really windy roads, so dodgey, theres massive big rocks on the road where they have fallen from the cliffs above any of them could easley fall on your car, theres even bloody cows,pigs and horses in the road,lol Oi Get Out The Way,lol!!
We drove through this Maurie Village they all wave to you in you car when you pass them, hehe!!
Got to Rotaroa The whole place stinks of rotten eggs We went to TePuia its a big massive Maurie place runed buy Mauries, it has loads of bubbleing hot mud pools, Hot Pools, Gaysers, with lots of steam comming out of the ground we also watched a Traditional Maurie Dance the men were massive and was slapping there Thighs and and sticking there tounges out. The women were dancing with balls attached to strings.
Started to head towards Waitomo because that is where we are going tomorrow, tried to find somewhere to sleep for the night but we were having no luck, we were driving for ages and started running out of petrol and there was no petrol stations anywhere...Ahhhhh!!
Found this small town in the middle of no where, it was like ghost town. Check into this hostel it was the most strangest place we'd ever been to.....eeeekkk!! The guy who owned it was pissed, in two days they have a alcahol ban over christmas and new years1 So were guessing he was making the most of things,lol!
He showed us to our room, it was pretty basic and smelt so musty but was ok for the night. Went to the tv room, it was like walking into a 100 year old ladys house, it had so much funiture, loads of chairs, tables, a broken piano, lamps looked like it was from the 1950s lol, it was quite spooky, kirsty felt really on edge, where did he get all this stuff from, even the wall paper was oldy looking. Lew was telling her to take a picture of the place but she didnt want to, she thought she would see a ghost would come up on the screen!!...Ahhhh Sceary!!
Kirsty thought she would be waking up all night because it made her so freaked out sleeping here, but she slept fine,lol!!

22nd Dec 08

Woke early to check out of this weired place, when we got out of our room, we had a lovely view of the beach, we didnt see this last night as it was dark when we arrived! Packed up and headed to find some petrol, then on to Waitamo.
Went to this cave, it was so sceary as it was pitch black, had loads of steps to go down into it. Got down quite far, the more you get into it the more you can see, there was loads of water stuff dripping off the roof of it, didnt no wether it was water or bat wee...eeekk!!! yuuuk!!!
Then we went to a Natural Bridge strange looking thing, it was once a cave, but in years has slowly arrouded away, you had to go over this really cool swing bridge to get to it!
Headed back to Auckland was going to sleep in the car again but checked into Base Hostel early...
