We went to hire some flippers and a very nice man loaned them to us for free as it was Good Friday. One thing we have been overwhelmed at is how friendly the Kiwis are - everyone is desperate for us to have a good time.

The snorkelling at the Goat Island was so worth the wait. Despite the freezing water, the fish were amazing and some of them huge and you could almost touch them, they were that close! We chose the right time to come - as we left the water, everyone else arrived.

The fish we spotted included:
Red Moki
Butterfish
Snapper (Massive!)
Demoislles

The joy of the campervan is being able to get up and leave whenever we want - we can do so much in one day. The next stop that day was the Hot Water beach, further south in the North Island. We got there in the evening and sat and ate fish and chips on the beach, under the stars - very romantic!
