Today, as part of Leigh's birthday present, we drove out to Whangaumu Bay, taking the new northern by-pass. This was a great saving in time as it avoids going through Kensington and the town. Upon arrival we walked along the beach from one end of the bay to the other and watched the daring bathers taking an early season dip - although we paddled the water was bearable! Afterwards we walked around the township looking at the properties some of which were quite new and interesting in design and lay-out!
Then we drove to Tutukaka and looked at the boats, while we had our picnic, drank tea/coffee and did the crosswords - very nice.
