Wednesday June 29th 2005 3:22 pm. Welly NZ
Hey everyone!!
I have finally found an internet cafe in Wellington. man! this city is AMAZING. I mean, I may never come home. its nuts. I'm in love with Welly NZ. here are my pics I promised... and if you want a video of zorbing. I'll email that out as well (I don’t think I can post them here).
I'll just post them here and you can read the captions.
As of yesterday and today's happenings:
Yesterday we flew from Rotorua to Wellington. It was a one hour flight in a TINY prop aero plane (like my NZ spelling ;) haha) The views were incredible!! I have great news too, all of us AustraLearn kids were just walking around the plane talking to the pilots, (kiwis are SO laid back haha) and I was lucky enough to be invited to sit in the cockpit with the pilots while landing!! IT WAS CRAZY> everyone was SO jealous of me. The stewardess asked me and I of course jumped on it- then she gave me a seat in the cockpit and a set of headphones and a mike and shut the

door. I talked to the Air control tower and said in an official voice “This is flight 589 asking permission to land...blah blah..." Pilot Dave and Co-Pilot Mason were hilarious- they kept me laughing and helped me point out all the peaks and rivers of the North Island. The views were so beautiful I could see all the way across the country from the east to west coast and all the way to the South Island in the horizon. It was by far the most amazing entry and welcome to Wellington I could ever ask for. I STILL can’t believe it!!!
I have video of the land too-ill email those as well.
I got to my flat yesterday and I could not tell you (ill take some photos and post them soon, showing is always better) how gorgeous the views are. We are on a huge STEEEEEEEEEP hill facing the harbour and overlooking the city. I can’t believe where I live. I have three roommates, Christian a German guy, Liz a Kiwi, and Chris a Canadian. I haven’t met Chris though. but last night Christian and his girlfriend Nicole made me a German dinner of potatoes and cauliflower

gorgeous landscape of central northland -how green is the grass?
and beef strogenhoofershoot or something in German, and we all watched a rugby match on the tele. :) Even better- my Resident director Allison made me a kiwi pavlova dessert that was so tasty. Yum!
They have treated me right, I love the Kiwi's!!!
Last night: we (my friend Rachel in AustraLearn and a few guys) went downtown to Cuba st. and Courtney place to check out the 'scene'- we played darts at the English pub and had a drink at the Flaming burrito bar/cafe. Welly is great- I love the city!!
T0day: we all had international student orientation -boring sessions on how to enroll for class, - which I can’t do until tomorrow. MAN_ I just want to get settled in school!! But it’ll come soon enough then that means heaps of work too.
SO- that brings you up-to-date! Check out the pics by clicking on them and scrolling through. I love and miss you guys- 'see' you soon-
Love, shell

Good morning Shell!! It's 7:19 AM Wed here; I just got up and checked to see if you sent us an entry...and YES, you did!! GREAT for us!! Gosh, Shell, it's all so unbelievable to comprehend for us here, in boring LW!! YOU ARE CERTAINLY HAVING THE TIME OF YOUR LIFE DEAR!! I'm so glad!! I'm reading and crying "happy tears" all over the place!! Ha Ha! Your plane ride must have been thrilling, to say the least! How utterly cool is that?! YOU ARE ONE LUCKY LITTLE GIRL, YOU KNOW!! Something tells me though, that the pilot couldn't resist letting you talk in the headset to the tower...since we all know you can talk effortlessly! HaHa! I wonder, though, did you use your funny little falsetto voice when you asked the tower for permission to land? I can hear you now...HaHa! What a riot!! And those pictures of the scenery are unbelievably GORGEOUS!!!! Oh my gosh!! The views are absolutely BREATHTAKING!! Just like the travel brochures, only better, right?! Oh, Shell, I'm soooo happpppppy for you!! Your flat sounds like fun too! Another great view there! What a pretty location! And your roommates sound interesting...bet you never guessed you'd be eating a German home cooked meal your first night in your flat, eh? Cool!! What fun!! I love it all! Now enjoy your time there, sweetie! Classes will begin soon enough, and then you have to come back down to reality a little bit, right? What am I saying, "reality," for? Seems the whole experience is completely "UNREAL!" I LOVE YOU SOOOOOO MUCH!! Keep 'em coming!! SWAK from Mommie
