The 2009 Rosco's Rocky Road Patagonia Expedition is now underway...
We have loaded the motos into the container and sent it on it’s voyage to Valparaiso in Chile.
We will fly in on the 31st of October, to prepare the release of the motos and pick our adventurers up at the airport on 2nd of November to start our epic 10,428 km traverse of the infamous Patagonia.
We will begin in Vina Del Mar, ride to Tierra del Fuego to Fin del Mundo (End of the earth) in Ushuaia, turn around and head North, back to Vina Del Mar.
We have a team of 11 for the expedition, riding a variety of motos....
Keith Larkin, managing Director of Whites Wholesale in Hamilton, who came with us on last years High Andes Adventure, will be joining us, again, on a new RED 2009 Kawasaki KLR 650.
Along with Mike Vinsen, from Auckland, who also rode with us to the High Andes last year, will join us, on another 2009 Kawasaki KLR 650.
Tom, from Luxembourg, will fly in and ride my green 2007 Kawasaki KLR 650, ex String. Last year Tom also rode (well, most of
the time) with us on a Suzuki V Strom on the High Andes Adventure.
We have Zane, from Clarks Beach, South of Auckland, riding on a Honda Trans Alp. Last year Zane rode ‘Shot Gun’ in the Chase truck with Lance, but was able to get a ride on various motos, while the riders were resting....
Somehow, Mike Vinsen was able to con? His 3 brothers into coming on this expedition, I think they are his ‘Pit Crew’? Anyway we are really happy to have Ian, from Auckland and Richard, from Rarotonga, both riding orange KTM LC4 640 motos.
Along with David, also from Auckland, who is the older brother, and the larger of the brothers, obviously pushed his smaller siblings away from the table while growing up, he will be riding a BMW 1200GS, also it is the biggest moto on the Expedition.
Barry Cox, from down Hamilton way, will also join us, on a new Yamaha Tenere 660.
Gerardo will be riding his BMW Dakar, so, as you can see we have a wide range of motos on this expedition.
On this Expedition, I will be driving the chase truck (I know
how wet, cold and windy it gets down there) Raewyn (Bones), my first wife, will ride shotgun with me in the truck and I am sure will share the ‘Woman’s Perspective’ with you all on this blog....
At the conclusion of the Expedition, Bones and I will fly back down to Ushuaia and catch a small ice breaker to visit the Antarctic for 10 days (and she doesn’t even like the cold?) So stay tuned for more blog.
Cheers for now, Rosco

Good luck and safe travels - I am looking forward to reading the next instalment of adventures - xxM
I'm as envious as hell seeing motos being loaded and knowing the excitement will be building counting down to departure! Hope your container has a less eventful trip than ours did returning from Valparaiso!! Cheers, Tiny.
Hi to all, have fun, enjoy the scenery and have a safe trip. Hope to be there next time. T.L.
We are envious, but not brave enough. Almost completed our UK trip which has been great, and shortly heading for another m'home exchange in South Africa. More Lions less mountains. Best wishes pj

Well gentlemen, I wish you good luck and a trouble free journey, I'm jealous as hell and wish I was with you..... I look forward to following your blog only if the comments are as informative and funny as I've seen to date, I can't believe that David "Who ate all the pies" Vinsen really needs an 1150, surely any adequate 1000cc would do the job, I'm still spitting tacks that he didn't confirm my position as U.K. Entertainment Manager on his recent U.K. holiday, one other thing concerning me are Ian & Richard Vinsen carrying step ladders to mount those KTM's...... have a good one.... Al
Would like to hear particularly from David V as the trip progresses and I trust submitting this, is the way to go about it.
Best of luck and steady riding to you all.
