Visited the film set used for the Hobbit houses in Lords of the Rings. Facinating tour info relating to Peter Jackson flying over the area and deciding it was perfect to represent middle earth. The set was used in all three films and is undergoing alterations for the Hobbit series. Anyone seeing the film will rember the characters houses, the party tree and the pub.

Matamata, the nearest town was quaint and a good lunch stop.

A little secret. The tree is not real. It was cut down, moved and assembled on the set. The leaves were painted and wired on.

I\'m so glad to see they didn\'t have to tear everything out. Was Bilbo\'s sword at Bag End?

No sword only some blacksmiths tools so I could have made one! We are now in the town of Nelson where the ring was made.
