... uns geht´s sehr gut!

New Zealand – Hahei and Raglan – Cathedral Cove and some quality left hand brake surf in Raglan whatever that is, Simon or should I say DAN any ideas??? After several attempts I managed to get on a bus departing from Auckland, my driver was a lady called Miss P or aka Miss Perfect as she liked to be called. The bus was fashionably late by about an hour and I was lead to believe it was caused by traffic congestion, however the more time I spent on Miss P’s bus the more I doubted that, let’s just say it was hard to work out if she was a part of tourist group on the bus or actually the driver but one things for sure she was a long way from being perfect. We made our ... read more

First stop on the Stray bus was to a small place called Hahei. We arrived in the afternoon and we all headed straight for the beach. For some crazy reason I tried to egg on Andreas to go for a swim to the bhoy and back. He didn't give but I went on my own. The swim must have been 200-300 metres each way and I was knackered when I got back. As soon as I came out the water Charlie asked me if I was ready to go for a run that we said we'd do, so jumped back up and ran along the beach. I was totally ruined. The evening consisted a bbq which was good and some beers. It seems every time we hit a supermarket we buy some big crates between us, ... read more

Day 101 15th December Waking up in our lovely campsite, I cooked up a breakfast feast of fried eggs, toast, baked beans and coffee, excellent start to the day! We took our time packing the van back up and when we were ready we walked down to the dive shop to hire some snorkelling gear. I wasn’t too sure whether I was going to snorkel but I hired gear anyway just in case. That done, we jumped back in the van and drove down to Gemstone Bay. We were going to walk, but as we had to be in Auckland that afternoon we decided to save ourselves the time and drive. The car park was full, but fortunately the guy running it decided that our little campervan qualified us to park in one of the caravan ... read more

Next stop, Hot Water Beach....we woke up at the crack of dawn (6am) and trotted down to the beach with two spades to dig ourselves our own hot tub on the beach. The beach is above geothermal activity which means boiling hot water seaps up through the sand. After we had a walk to Cathedral Cove, one of the scenic spots along the east coast. ... read more

So just as I thought I was getting some decent sleep, a couple wake me up at ridiculous o clock in the morning, probably like 4am or something. Obviously they have just arrived and decide to check in at the most inconvenient time possible whilst I’m trying to deal with my trauma, and of course the fact I have to catch my bus at 8bastardam. Okay so let me explain to you what Stray is.. For those of you travellers that aren’t ignorant to the travelling world, this will probably be boring to you. Stray is a hop-on hop-off bus company around New Zealand. Basically they provide all the transport around New Zealand, but also provide you with activities and accommodation if need be. However if you want to stay in a certain place longer you ... read more
