I hate backpackers! Its offical!
Its been nearly 3 weeks, and then there was the Aussie stretch! I just probably bullshitted out and maybe I´m just a bit burnt out, but if I have the same conversation to one more person about the where I´ve been and where I´m going, I´m going to punch him or her out! Actually, i´m making this resolution that I am never going to have this conversation ever again!!!!!!!
Another thing this Hostel is crap! Its in Mount Monganewie and its full of Brazilians, who come to NZ on backpacker or student visas and work in crap jobs for the year! At this point I´ve decided to give Brazil a miss, as they´re annoying crowd of greasy Hijos de Mochillas.
Anyway, this is of course a surf mecca, and as I am here, as usual there´s no surf! No shit, I seem to be having this flattening effect on the waves round NZ! Maybe its the gravitational force due to the size of my brain, but according to the photos I see and the surfers I speak to NZ has world class and uncrowed waves! Just not when Im about! They even built
an artifical reef here, so as to bring surfers to the area with a consistant wave! Guess what, it doesnt bloody work! $2000000 waisted on this thing that makes a ripple! It knew I was coming to visit!
So what do you do in a place known for good waves, when there is no waves and everybody in your hostel is speaking bloody Portugese! You go for a walk by yourself. Loner!
The beach is is fantastic, I must say! I expect with waves and in the summer, you could find worse places to go! I walk to the end of the beach, its getting dark and in a sudden and probably inspired by the sea air, attempt to hike the Mount! 40 mins normally, promising myself a steak after I head off in record speed! Make it to the top in darkess, sweating, panting and out of breath, to be greeted by the now familar sound of Portugese! They´re everywhere!
Anyway, leg it back down to the hot swimming pool at the bottom. Something very strange about swimming in a 25m open airred pool, at night, in the winter and the water is salty and 35
C! They have it pretty good here!
Tomorrow, Auckland, to hook up with an old mate! Then onto South America!
