Helllllllllo! Sorry for my lack of writing. Despite all of my gramatical errors, it actually takes forever to do one of these things! I forgot where I left off with, so bare with me...
The rest of Sydney was amazing! we went to an outdoor movie and watched 'Australia.' Yes, we watched Australia, in Australia, so cheesy I know! The weather was amazinf for most of the 3-ish weeks that we there... except for Australia Day, which also happened to be Julie's birthday. We sat in a park around the harbour with a couple of friends and drank wine in the rain. It was still fun nevertheless! We didn't really go out that much, since the place we were staying at was a suburb outside the city and it was kind of weird getting home. We did go out in style one night though. Trevor took us out... oh god, just ask if you want to know what happened! Nothing sleezy or anything, I just don't think I should write it down in... consideration... of... others...hahah. We originally wanted to leave Sydney on the 27th, but by the time we booked our flight, all the cheap flights were booked, and the next one wasn't available until Feb 5th. This meant we had a lot of time to kill! For a couple of days we went to the Blue Mountains, which were amazing. They are pretty much the Grand Canyon covered in greenery. We went on a couple of hikes, one being all the way down to the canyon. The problem with that is, you have to work your way back up... in the heat!! It was a medium to expert hike which was about 5 hours, and we did it in under 4 hours... take that world! hahah. There are probably lots of other things that happened in Sydney, but I just woke up from a nap and the old memory isn't working so well at the moment!
On Feb 5th, we entered the wonderful land that is New Zealand. Auckland was a cute city-- with many, many hills. Why so many hills you ask? Auckland was built over 48 volcanoes, making a simple walk a very sweaty walk on a summer's day. We did the typical tourist things, as well as a bit of shopping and taking advantage of the exchange rate. We ended up staying at a hostel that cost $11 CDN, which alos happened to be in an interesting part of town. We noticed there were a lot of sex shops and random people people about a block away from our hostel. Turns out that we were staying in the quasi-redlight district of Auckland, hahah. Another fun fact about New Zealand? It has a depleated ozone layer, meaning that you will get burned in 12 minutes. New Zealand also has the highest mortaity rate when it comes to skin cancer... yikes. We stayed there for 3 days and now we are on our Magic bus ride, which took us to Paihia today. Believe it or not, it was raining!! We were so bummed cause all of our activities require sun, so at the moment we are hoping that the weather will turn around!! Ladies and gentlemen, that's all I've got for now!
Love you, and talk to you over the internet! xx
