After breakfast we did a few loads of washing, cleaned out the Boesman and then repacked it. After lunch we went for a walk and picked up a few groceries. Back at home Talita cooked a quiche while Ferdi started working on the stencil so that we can paint Birdsy's name on permanently.
After a delicious dinner of quiche, pork chops and salad we spent some time looking at different yacht and sailing dinghy designs. In the process we got all excited about building our next boat. Before we start that project we'll need a place of our own with a big garage or shed, so we won't start building any time soon.
Today's highlights:
1. Delicious dinner.
2. Getting excited about our next boat.

We finally went jogging again this morning and it was great to get some exercise again. After breakfast Talita caught up with emails while Ferdi had a nap on the couch. The rest of the day passed uneventfully. Late afternoon Talita got dolled up before we drove by the Farmers (a shop like Edgars in SA) where she got a bottle of her favorite perfume. Then we
drove to Albany where she had a meeting that went really well. Back home Mel had cooked up some pasta and chicken for dinner, after which we watched a movie.
Today's highlights:
1. Great meeting for Talita.

This morning we went hiking in the Long Bay Reserve which is only a few kilometers from the Smit residence. The track is quite hilly and when we reached the end of the trail we bouldered back along the slippery rocks at the bottom of the cliffs. This part of the trail is only accessible at low tide and by accident we had timed it perfectly. We spotted some NZ Kingfishers and a Parakeet that we have yet to identify.
We enjoyed lunch on the dark brown sand of Pohutakawa Beach. This is a nudist beach, but lucky for us everyone there was fully clothed. If not it would've made for a pretty tasteless lunch spot.
Instead of retracing our steps we followed a different track back to the van. In the process we spotted our first Eastern Rosella. These beautiful birds look like a Parakeet with red, yellow, green and blue feathers. It's quite striking.
By the time we reached the van our bodies knew that we'd been hiking. When we consulted our pedometer we understood why; it indicated that we'd covered 11.4km.
Back home we had a shower and a nap. For dinner we made cottage pie and sweet pumpkin. At 8pm Nicol accompanied us to the iMax theatre in Auckland where we watched Avatar in 3D. It was spectacular! This was our first time watching a film in 3D and we were absolutely riveted by the film. What a great social comment on how we humans destroy our world chasing money and power.
Today's highlights:
1. Hiking Long Bay.
2. Spotting the Eastern Rosella.
3. Watching Avatar in iMax 3D.
