As most of you know, but I'm sure some still do not, two weeks ago I was forced to make a hasty exit from my cushy little life in Scotland and undertake a 40 hour journey to get myself to Auckland. I had 10 hours between receiving the phone call telling me I had to leave and leaving the hostel to catch a train to the bus which would get me to the airport in Glasgow in time for my flight.
To cut a very long story short, the trip itself was okay (Dubai is really as hot as they make it out to be, though, and entirely sand). The past two weeks, not so much.
I was only here 5 days before my Nana died, but it was 5 days of bedside vigils, meals eaten on the run or in Nana's hospital room, long night shifts and counting the seconds between each breath, hoping the next one would come.
When she finally passed away my Dad and I had to organise the funeral and, after that was over, we had to empty the house she'd lived in for the past 60 years. Not an easy task and one which we've just finished today.
My Mum, Dad and I are flying back to Brisbane on Sunday (finally). My brother left for Bangkok on Tuesday. I'm not sure where life will take me from here. I'm really hoping to be able to make it back to Scotland some time in the near future, but as I am now sans job and there's a global economic crisis I'm just not too sure how that's going to pan out.
*fingers crossed*
At least the weather's nice here ...

STAY IN NZ if you want nice weather!!!
My gosh the weather is atrocious here- Brisbane has been declared a disaster zone officially! It's insane. The storms have been so bad the last 3 nights there's been up to 30cm of rain dropped in a few places over a few hours leading to mass flooding. There's houses completely destroyed or missing rooves esp in suburbs like the GAP.
Stay in NZ if the weather is nice.
Who thought we'd be able to catch up again so soon? Gimme a call when you get back and we'll do lunch
