Auckland
Auckland was the first city that I settled into when I first arrived in New Zealand. Although I only spent about two weeks there, I had some great times, and met heaps of people. I acquired two jobs while in Auckland, but only worked at them for a day or two each. The reason is because I was still adjusting to everything, and still trying to decide if I wanted to stay in Auckland or move on. After being in Auckland for a few days, I met Kristina Smith from Grand Prairie, Alberta in Canada. Her plan was to buy a car and travel around until she had to get a job, and she invited me to travel with her. So long story short, the jobs that I obtained were not necessary from that point on. We spent about a week in Auckland dealing with the car, and registration, and insurance, etc. That gave us time to hang out with the other friends that we had made there. Then, on March 17th we hit the road and traveled together for about 2 weeks.
Below are a few pictures that I took while in Auckland. One in particular that
CrewPicture of the whole crew taken just minutes before Kris and I left Auckland
I like is the one of the whole clan that was taken just a minute before Kristina and I left. The guy in the red jacket is Dinish Kumar pronounced (Din-eesh Koo-mar). He is from India, and him and I became pretty good friends while I was there. I plan to meet up with him again at some point throughout my trip. Daniel and Emma are the two on the left. They are a married couple that I met from Guernsey, England. By far the nicest couple I've ever met in my life. They even came down to Wellington to visit me a few months back. We went to the zoo (see wellington pics). And Kristina is on the right with the hat. The other pictures are of us at the bar, one picture I took of the Sky Tower, one of me in my room on my second day in New Zealand, and one picture that Emma took of me while I was at my gig.
What do I miss about Auckland? There are lots of things I miss about Auckland. The people and friends I met especially. I miss the Chinese food court around the corner from
the hostel. Kristina and I must have eaten there every day for the last week we were in Auckland. We couldn't get enough of it. But mostly, I miss the feeling that I had in Auckland. Every day when I woke up, I would look out the window, and just appreciate for a minute where I was, and what I was doing. That feeling is gone now because I've been in New Zealand for so long now. Every once in a while I remind myself where I am and take a minute to appreciate the significance of the whole thing. So that is mostly what I miss about Auckland. I hope that it all comes back when I return, because I DO plan on going back.
