Evy and I got up early and went down to the car market to lower our price and throw in some extras (a tent, stove, and sleeping pads) in order to get the van sold. The one offer we did have (which was way low) has now bought a van so we need to find a buyer. The doors of the van have been left open and so the battery is dead. Fortunately they have a charger handy as this happens a lot but it makes me even more concerned and stressed.
After returning to the hostel we get the kids up and spend some time updating the text on our blog, which is almost a month out of date. We have been writing, just not posting, so we feed $2 coins into the INTERNET box to keep posting.
We haven't done much since arriving in Auckland, so we decide to take a trip to a small nearby island. Unfortunately, when we get to the iSite to find out about the ferry we find out it has done the final run of the day. Instead we walk the docks and check out the “America's Cup” harbour along with New
Zealand's America Cup boat.
The hostel is feeling a bit cramped and public and so we start doing some research into doing a one week rental somewhere else. At the iSite, they don't seem to think this is possible but we have seen some realtor ads that show places by the week so we may follow up on this tomorrow.
We spend the evening pouring over Australia and South East Asia travel books planning our next few legs. The thought now is to rent a car in Sydney on arrival and head North towards Brisbane up the coast.
