S'up y'all! Hello guys, thanks for all the comments and everything - its so lovely to hear from all of you. We're currently chilling in our hostel, just sorting out some stuff over the internet but it definitely feels like we're heading towards the last push of our trip - well our bank balances are certainly feeling the expense of travelling! Auckland is really cool, its a proper big city (unlike Christchurch, the second biggest city in NZ which was more like Guildford than either of us would care to recall) and, once again, we're staying in the Chinatown area - I'm getting the feeling its where cheap hostels are situated and is generally good for students. This has meant we've been shopping in an Asian supermarket and our first trip there was, to say the ... read more

...after all that drinking last night I decided to get up early and go to see if there is any vans for sale that suits my budget. I've been to all hostels and checked all notice boards but found nothing. Most of vans are sold or not good enough for me. I am staying at very clean hostel which is just off K'road and close to Backpackers Car Market. I popped up there to check out what they have got and found very nice, little liteace for a very good price. I have had very good experience in past as I had my previous van bought outhere and sold recently. Little Liteace is more than enough that I was looking for. I have done full inspection on the vehicle cos my vehicle was checked as well ... read more

It is hard to describe how beautiful this country is. This is I think the most beautiful place in the world. People that we met were mostly local who were very kind and helpful to us. Nature is absolutely stunning that there is no words in any language that can describe it. Who has a chance to travel around the world would recommend this country to visit and be impressed by natural treasures of New Zealand. Anyway, its time to taste different places. It is sad that we need to leave but will come back here again definitely. We also had to say goodbye to Lilly. She was amazing and served us incredibly good, never had problem with that van and I'm glad that we sold it to very nice couple. Where we bought it we ... read more

It's that time again! Blog time! This week has been another crazy one with SO much going on i'm not entirely sure where to start! Firstly I would like to thank you for the post I received - it is SO nice to get post when you are this far away from home and I am starting to rival Milly (my roommate) for weekly post! Last Sunday night as i mentioned we all headed over to Annette's (our organiser over here in Kiwi Land) for a BBQ. Having found her house after a bus trip we met her husband John and were then shown next door where Annette's lucky neighbours own a 25m long swimming pool in their back garden!! The weather was beautiful and we had endless fun attempting to climb onto an inflatable Killer ... read more

Firstly, I apologise for the complete lack of communication/updates to this in the past week! It has been relatively busy but not such that I shouldn't have updated this. My excuse is in fact the book that i'm reading! 'The Magician's Guild' by Trudi Canavan. A lot better than I initially thought it would be. Unfortunately it is the first in a trilogy - the sequel to which I don't own and can't find in any book shops in Auckland! Right - The past week: Monday was an interesting day. I arrived to be told that Nicole, the receptionist at Owairaka, was ill and could I possibly fill in for her for the day? Ok I thought - I can do this! It's one thing being a receptionist in a school you went to for 13 ... read more

Hello All! I do apologise for the lack of updates on this in the last week! Its been a busy one at school and various other activities going on. I will attempt to update this properly tomorrow but now I have to go as we are going to see the 'Starlight Symphony' in Auckland Domain - a big outdoor classically concert type thing I think! Love to all... I still reeeally like post: BK Hostel, 3 Mercury Lane, Newton, Auckland 1010, New Zealand :)... read more

Thats right! It's Valentines Day and yes. It is raining! The weather this week has been seriously interesting... (What am I doing - How British to be talking about the weather!) However, on Wednesday it was rather hot and humid and on Thursday it was pretty much unbearable. It was actually the hottest day on record for about 180 years on Thursday and 100% humidity so not pleasant when you are jumping up and down singing songs and trying to put together a brand new drum kit... (attaching skins and all) It poured down on Thursday evening though and Friday was much more pleasant! On other news - I am now well versed in 'The Lycra song' 'Cool Cats' and 'The Shapes Song' all of which contain very repetitive lyrics and tunes and are somewhat unoriginal. ... read more

Kate: Home Sweet Home!!!! Well kind of... We made it and to be honest it still hasn't really all sunk in that we are in Auckland and this is it for the next 2 years! Yikes. It is so great here though and both Steve and i are already feeling pretty settled in our new flat- now all we need is some friends!! I was so shocked how quickly and easily we managed to find our flt. We were so lucky that we took the first one we saw. It is on a great location, right in the CBD and next to the famous Sky Tower. The flat came fully furnished as the landlord was going overseas so left most of his stuff, so Steve has a big TV, X-box and a lazy boy- happy days! ... read more
