So we are still in Auckland, at the same house, even though we intended to leave Monday. Auckland has stolen our hearts! Really though, we just love the people we are couch surfing with. They let us use their internet, do laundry, and drive us to all the cool sights (did you know Auckland has 53 inactive volcanoes?!). Now our plan is to stay until Sunday, as one of our housemates' (nickname Baby Cat) birthday is this weekend and we want to celebrate with her! In the meantime we have been exploring the city and making our plans for the rest of our trip.
I have started reading a book titled "Vagabonding: an uncommon guide to the art of long-term world travel" and 10 pages in am already hooked. The quote that spoke to me today:
"vagabonding is about gaining the courage to loosen your grip on the so-called certainties of the world...about refusing to exile travel to some other, seemingly more apporpriate time of your life...about taking control of your circumstances instead of passively waiting for them to decide your fate."
We are slowly working the pictures onto facebook but here's a few to start...
"'Cheshire Puss,' Alice began, 'Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?'
'That depends a good deal on where you want to get to,' said the Cat.
'I don't much care where--' said Alice.
'Then it doesn't matter which way you go,' said the Cat.
'--so long as I get SOMEWHERE,' Alice added as an explanation.
'Oh, you're sure to do that,' said the Cat, 'if you only walk long enough.'"... full info
