What a wonderful day we had yesterday. We picked up our dear friends Carrie and Trevor Brown from the Waiheke Island Ferry and off we went via many detours to have lunch with our other
dear friends Pam and Tony Makin.
While we were waiting at the Bucklands Beach Yacht Club for the Ferry to come in we noticed that the Yacht Club was having a special sailing day and all the men were dressed in evening clothes from their waist up and all you saw were bare legs from their waist down very funny.
We set off for Clevedon only to be diverted at Whitford as the road was closed for the Sarah Almer Road Cycle race. Our niece Candace was taking part in this race which started at the Show Grounds in Clevedon went out through Maraitai to Whitford and then back to Clevedon. We saw Candace ride by the roundabout in Clevedon.
When we arrived in Clevedon to shop [very nice shops] and have morning tea we discovered not only was there a Cycle Road Race, but there was a Farmers Market at the Show Grounds, Local Market in the Hall, plus the Polo was on
as well. What a busy place it was.
We went in for morning tea to find our friends the Jorgensens were there as well. We did have a laugh when we saw a group of elderly ladies all dressed up in the same clothes arrive in for morning tea. They were the 'Pink Hat Brigade'
We then set off for Ararimu and lunch only to be diverted again as we found out there was a 'stride' race as well and hundreds of people were walking along the road. Graham had a few words to say about that.
We arrived at Pam and Tony's a little late but we were greeted with lots of hugs and laughter and then proceeded to have a wonderful lunch and afternoon at their very beautiful 'Country Estate'.
Pam and Tony are building an Entertainment Centre along side their house and very impressive it is.
It was very hard to leave at the end of the day but we had to be back at the 5.15pm Ferry and we just made it in the nick of time.
Thankyou Pam and Tony for a superb lunch and thankyou to all of you for another

ClevedonCarrie, Sandy and Trevor where we saw Candace ride by.
