Dick says for me to warn you that it takes a long time for us to upload pictures to the Blog, so if you go to our latest entry and find no pics, try again later and see if some are there. They may not show up right away.
We have rejoined our ship today in Papeete on the big island of Tahiti, after spending the last two days on Bora Bora. I know we've said this before, but Bora Bora and its sister islands must surely be the most beautiful place on earth. Each one a green tropical paradise surrounded by green, turquoise and deep blue waters. The Bora Bora Nui Resort that we went to was just unbelievable. Dick and I both agreed we had never seen anything to rival it in beauty and luxury. We stayed in one of the over the water bungalows that looks primitive on the outside, but is anything but inside. Teakwood oceanic style furniture, heavy and simple in styling, two TVs in huge cabinets, thick glass panels in the floor with a view straight down to the fish on the ocean floor, kingsize bed, a marble and teak bathroom with grasscloth walls
Coming ashore at the resortComing off the tender from the ship, we were greeted by a pair of Polynesians who serenaded arriving visitors
and every fixture imaginable. Outside sliding glass doors, a deck with wonderful lounge chairs and view of the ocean, and a ladder down to the water convenient for taking a swim. I could go on and on about the place but am so tired and sleepy tonight, am going to have to cut this short and hit the hay. We flew from Bora Bora to Papeete, about a 30 minute flight, enough to take in all the beauty from an aerial perspective. I spent about an hour shopping in Papeete, which is a fair size town (the only one in the Society Islands), while Dick went to the ship and crashed. We ate on the ship and barely made it through a Polynesian dance production afterwards. The ship sails tonight (Friday) at 11:00, about an hour from now, headed for one more island before we get to New Zealand. We set our watches back one more hour tonight, and in a couple of days will have two Jan. 31st's when we cross the International Date Line. Mary
