Tony dropped us off at the airport to find our plane was delayed! Down to the rain as it hasn't stopped raining in Brisbane since we arrived. We eventually got to Fiji only to find that everywhere was flooded, it was raining here too! We got to our hostel, practically wading through rivers, where they told us the island tours had previously been cancelled and wasn't sure if ours was going ahead tomorrow. We had our first meal out with some other couple which was nice, then got an early night. We stayed in the 'pirates dorm' which slept 40+ people!!

The day our Awesome Adventures tour of the Islands was supposed to start.
We did a lot of waiting around, unsure if the boat would turn up. The weather was a bit better than the previous day we were told, but there were still a lot of storm clouds. Then the big yellow boat turned up to the back of our hostel. We had to wade through the sea with our big bags to a small wooden boat, which then took us to the Yasawa Flyer Boat. We got soaked on the way as the waves were coming over the front and sides of this rickety old boat!
5 hours later, we arrived at our first island. Coral View. We were greeted by people singing and playing guitars with flowers in their hair, and a tropical drink. We were shown to our Bure (double room/wooden hut) which had loads of ants in due to the fresh flowers, so we were swapped into a new room, which overlooked the sea which was beautiful. We had a cold shower (no hot water on the island) then went for tea. All our meals are included as there is no other option for food. Luckily the food was good. And you could go back for seconds which Michael did several times! There was entertainment after the food, with singing and dancing. The band had made a double bass with a wooden box and a piece of string which was cool. We sat with another English couple, who were nice and played card cames. Poker with chess pieces. One thing led to another - shots for the loosing hand. To say the least we got rather drunk without intending too and found ourselves star gazing on the beach. Oh and not to mention we saw our first sea snake! The only thing dangerous in Fiji and we saw it on the first night. A black and white stripey one. S x,
