This was the local water taxi I used to reach the final destination of Oarsman's Bay Lodge. The water was beautiful and clear during my entire stay. Great Snorkelling!
Hello to you all. My trip has been completed now and I just arrived back in Vancouver. If you want to reach me, contact me via e-mail and I can give you my new phone number too.

The final segment of my trip was fantastic and quite relaxing. Brett and I met up for an evening on the main island in Fiji. He encouraged me to go spend my final week at Oarsman's Bay Lodge up in the northern part of the Yasawa islands. I knew it had to be special because Brett had a glowing smile that I have never seen him have before.

He was right, this little lodge and group of staff on Nacula Island were so welcoming and peaceful. I could never explain to you in words how magical the people and this area is, because you just have to experience it. Paradise, secluded privacy, innocent heart warming laughter, family, caring and genuine people and Love are just some of things I believe could help describe what I felt. I also know that I got to experience a lot more than most who visit here, which I feel fortunate for. From day one I was

included in a private village ceremony in the evening for the Chief, which was filled with dancing, singing and laughter until the wee hours of the morning.

I was a witness to a traditional Fijian wedding, and a couple of rugby games on the local school grounds. Fishing in the evening, snorkeling in crystal clear water observing "Nemo" (the clown fish) and many more under water critters. The staff at Oarsmans Bay made excellent food, treated us to a cultural dancing, singing and general merriment.

My friends here at Oarsmans Bay and Nacula Island taught me a lot about life in the week that I spent with them. I look forward to joining them again in their peaceful, secluded and simple surroundings; where we appreciate the nature around us and laugh a lot.

Thank you to all of you for your keen interest in my travels and experiences I have had for the past 5 months, and I am glad I have been able to share them with you. I look forward to seeing and hearing from all of you some time soon.

Much Love

Graham

I made a late night departure from the village, because I was watching a couple of rugby games. This was what I was treated to on the way home.

The first night I arrived on Nacula Island, I was invited to attend a private ceremony for the head Chief of the Island. I was the only tourist, so I felt quite privileged. The evening was filled with dancing and lots of laughing with little ones like you see here.

Tui's Hut

This is Tui's Hut, my friend from Oarsmans Bay Lodge, who took me out fishing a few times. This type of hut is typical on a more remote Island in Fiji, made of straw, mud, and other grasses. They keep quite cool during the hot summer days, and hold the heat in at night.

One evening at the resort the staff made a delicous spread of typical Fijian food then performed a cultural song and dance for all the guests. It was fantastic. I wish I had video.

These kids were quite animated and filled with smiles and joy. The day before I left Nacula Island I travelled to the Village to attend a traditional Fijian church service. The entire congregation welcomed me with open arms and it was a magical time. The choir sang with conviction and the whole experience gave me goosebumps.
