Flight Flight was on time from Melbourne despite that the internet departure times said that the plane was due to depart at 1:55am 2 hours late, so we rang the phone service which reported that it was leaving at the usual time of 11:58pm. The flight was quite full - all seats seemed to be taken with the exception of the two exit rows immediately behind us. So after take-off I grabbed one of the empty exit rows and set up camp and managed to get a few hours sleep after watching a few TV shows. Fiji Nadi is a strange airport, we’re used to landing in unusual airports but this seemed to resemble a freight forwarding centre more than a passenger terminal, large packing boxes seemed to be more the norm than suitcases as we ... read more

So there I was sat in the lobby of the Nadi Bay Resort waiting with anticipation for the Feejee Experience bus to arrive. I hadn't really had the best time of it yet in Fiji and Nadi certainly hadn't set my world alight so I was filled with a real mix of hope and trepidation. When it did arrive I got on and there were only three others on there, it had only made one stop so far and I was the only person getting on at Nadi Bay so I was there with three others who already knew each other, Justin from Southend and a couple Kev and Sarah from Greenwich. We carried on around and picked up an Aussie couple, whose names escape me, Pauline from Leicester, and Rosa from Madrid. We stopped down ... read more

Bula! Arrived safely in Fiji on Saturday evening; Our resort is very quiet; only us and 2 other couples and the manager/manageress team and staff. Everyone is very friendly! Mind you there are only 11 suites anyway, so even full it wouldn't be busy! The resort is right on the beach; the best beach on the main island we are told and it does look fantastic (if you look down one way! They are building a massive 5 star resort at the other end which is a bit of a shame, but it isn't too disruptive!) Weather hasn't been great so far though! It poured down yesterday pretty much all day, so we lazed around the hotel room and read; played some board games that the hotel has; and ate! But it is warm and the ... read more

Hey All! Glad to hear you are all wanting more. We wanted to get as many pictures as we could before updating the site, along with the pics come the stories. So we arrived on the 9th September, which was very confusing as mid air we passed the date line, so we left on the 7th and arrived on the 9th, and we were very very tired...Steve actually had an excuse this time. The flight was a hefty 10 hrs 45 mins which we were not expecting which makes Fiji a long way from home at a massive 23 hrs to get here. But we have to say its worth travel and wait. This place is idealic with the most amazing people. They are so welcoming and friendly. It started as soon as we walked off ... read more

Hi everyone, Just a short update as we find ourselves on a day trip to Suva the capital of Fiji and have found a modern internet cafe. The only thing to add from our last missive is that we have met some lovely people here including a guy who was one of the camera men on the recent Love Island series, a couple, the girl of which was born on exactly the same day as Linda, a brilliant pair of Geordies and a young Scottish guy who lived in the same street as the young Beveridge family in South Queensferry. We also went on a boat trip which saw Linda catch a fish! Today is Monday; we fly to LA on Thursday. We will keep you posted. Linda @ Ken Belated Happy Birthday to Jackie... read more

It had been a few weekends out of the water so we thought we should head down the coast, a 45 minute drive South from Suva, to do a dive at what is acclaimed as one of the top 10 dive sights in the world. While we were there we figured we might as well take advantage of a great 'local rates' deal at the hotel and stay somewhere flash. The hotel was really lovely, beautiful grounds and really lovely rooms. We got lucky and scored a sea view room (although only paying for the garden view) which was so lovely waking up to in the morning. There's not a great deal to say about this weekend, it was just so relaxing because we didn't do much. We'd had drinks the night before so weren't up ... read more

Just a quick report from Fiji. We are staying in a fabulous quiet resort in Mango Bay which is miles and miles from anywhere. Any report would read along the lines of "got up, had breakfast by the beachside pool, lay in the sun, had a swim/massage, ate lunch by the beachside pool, lay in the sun, had a swim in the sea, had dinner and a few drinks, went to bed." Of course the word few could be substituted by the word 'some' or 'a lot', depending on the mood. Although it is quiet, there are still quite a lot of activities going on at night and during the day to keep us going. Before we got here we spent the last few days of our New Zealand trip with Linda's cousin Pauline and her ... read more

Hey hey My My, For the past week or so we've been doing the Feejee Experience, a bus tour around the main Fijian island, Viti-Levu. We stopped off to do loads of activities whilst travelling between our destinations. On Day 1 we left Nadi and headed to a nearby Beach, apparently one of the Top 5 in the world and then we visited a Fijian village. We had to wear a sarong whilst walking through the village as not to offend the vilagers' modesty- looked very chic?! The most enjoyable part of day 1 was sandboarding, basically (that word again) this is a bit like sledging, only down sand dunes rather than snowy hills. The walk to the top of the Sand Dunes was knackering, so steep- on reaching the top we had to lie down ... read more

Fiji…..part two…. Right, from South Sea Island we caught the Yasawa Flyer to Bounty Island. We could have technically swam there it was so close, actually that wouldn’t have been an amazingly good idea as when I’ve been snorkelling with Fran out in the reefs, I panic as soon as I see anything that remotely looks like it could be the outline of a shark….even a harmless reef shark will make the water turn brown. How I’m gonna survive in the water off the coast of Australia I do not know. Anyway, the people from Bounty picked us up and took us to the shore of yet another beautiful island. We were the only people to arrive at the island at midday and we had a welcome song just for us! In front of 50 or ... read more
