there has been almost on month since the last blog so i don't remember everything any more... so I'll be short this time, for your sake, haha
Melbourne and Brisbane the first city I visited in australia was Melbourne. probably the most "european" of all cities I've seen in oz so far and therewith my favourite. I did a very "formal" visit of company where Tanja works 😊)
I had some extra time there so I decided to see the Great Ocean Road, famous for high cliffs and the "twelwe apostoles", but only 8 of them still stand there. another proof of decay in catholical church, haha see the pics. I wanted to rent a car and explore it on my own, but in the end I decided to take the easier option of a guided tour. we all agreed it was a "fast food tourism" because most stops we did were just for 15 mins in order to take some pics. who cares.
Then I visited Brisbane for one week. The weather was not as warm as I expected and i got a bit ill.
anyway, I was fed up with cold weather so I booked a flight
to tropical Darwin.
Darwin, Kakadu and Lichfield national parks There is dry season in Darwin now, which means that the weather is sunny, dry and hot /exactly what I needed/ and the prices are high. I met there three Irish guys, Cian, Jerry and Pat and Shane from Canada and we decided to rent a 4WD pickup together and share the (very high) rental costs. Fortunately, we were all engineers which ment we all liked beer, steaks, swearwords and loud singing 😊) they liked the translations of the "slovenian" ones, of course.
Kakadu national park is almost as big as Slovenia and there is a sealed road which makes a loop through it and one must stick to it with a rental car unless you have a 4wd. and we had it!!! so we were able to visit all the best things to see and all the bumpy roads heading there. this made a big mess in our boot as some sauce jars and cans broke.
The main things to do in Lichfield national park is swimming under the waterfalls and demolishing the rented cars on the hard roads. nooo, we were not that mean, but the
roads were really extreme sometimes. see the pics.
a couple of days ago I took a flight to Cairns as it was just a little more expensive than bus. and 3 hours travelling instead of three days... makes sense. I am a bit afraid because now the most expensive things are coming... we will see, somehow i'll sort it out. but here i am, at the great barrier reef!
greetings to everybody!
