Our Holiday Rental :0)
Life in an upside down house .. down under :0) We are now into our 3rd week in Oz and finally seem to be getting somwhere!!!
We have taken a holiday rental in Golden Bay in the South which is lovely .. we have an 'upside down' house overlooking the Indian Ocean until the end of December so we sleep downstairs and live upstairs!!!
It is a lovely house and is closer to the dogs in Byford so we can make the trip now in about 30 minutues compared to the 50 minutes is took us from the city.
Doug has been for 2 jobs and has been offerd both so at least we know he is definately in demand over here!! He starts his new job on the 10th Decemeber and will be the first 'pomme' employed there so should be interesting!!!
We have now also secured a longterm rent up in Kallaroo near Joondalup so can't wait as it is a 3 bedroom bungalow with a pool about 5 mins from the beach (the dog beach of course!!!).
Our furniture is still lost at sea and the last Pickford's had definate information for was it landed at Singapore but apparently as there was such a
backlog over there they re-directed my ship the MSC Tasmania to Sydney instead of Perth - so it is now due into Fremantle on the 13th December but could take as long as 21 days for it to each us at our new address so we have given up and have started to buy the essentials that we need for every day living as our new house up North is unfurnished.
We go to see the dogs every day as Oz has lost so much weight now that we take steak that we cook on the barbie to him to try and feed him up ... I think it is because he is fretting a little bit ..Biscuit on the other hand looks great and really seems to enjoying himself. All the kennel maids love Biscuit and all stop by his kennel to say hi to him ... he loves the attention and they all think that he is the most chilled out dog they have ever seen .. which of course he is!!! They only have 8 days to go now so can't wait to get them and bring them back to the holiday rental and get them
on the beach and in the Ocean swimming!!! We have made so many friends with other 'mums and dads' who's dogs are in quarantine as everyone is in the same boat .. in particular a lovely couple from Bournemouth who have moved down to Bunbury who are great so hopefully we will keep in touch!
Whilst at the holiday home in Golden Bay we have seen some of the most beautiful sunsets I have ever seen and most nights we have a glass of wine on the balcony watching the sun set .. it is the most gorgeous thing I have ever seen!!!
Doug has been a bit squemish about the 'wildlife' over here so has been speaking to all the neighbours about what we will see in regards to insects that will kill us etc :0)
As anyone who knows Doug will know he has a phobia of spiders so thankfully we haven't really seen that many whilst we have been here and Doug spends most of his time in the supermarket searching for 'spider killer' that he keeps in his pocket most of the time like a gun ready to pull the trigger at anything
that moves!!!
We have also seen 2 snakes and wild kangaroos in the past 2 weeks!! One of the snakes swept in front of us on the road and we saw one on the beach crossing just in front of us - that was me gone .. I ran back to the car!!
The weather is a daily battle here as it is so hot and the flies are so bloody annoying both Doug and myself have developed the ' aussie wave' i.e. wafting your hand in front of your face to swipe away the flies!!!
We put on factor 30 every morning and still bloody burn in the sun .. I have always gone really brown in the sun so I may have to up the factor otherwise noone will recognise me anymore!!
We have met so many nice people whilst we have been here and everyone is really friendly .. all the aussies want to help you and offer advice which is great. We have also been invited to our first Aussie BBQ on Saturday at the house of the estate agent from Wigan (who has taken us under her wing since the fish farm
incident!!) .. so can't wait to speak to other people - no offence Doug !!!
It really is the most beautiful place out here and I am so thankful that we have made the move out here .. it hasn't been easy and some of days have been really hard but just when you think that nothing is going right something seems to happen and it always turns out ok .. you just have to keep going!!!
