Perth City at sunset
The sunset here is lovely. Nearly everynight the sky turns bright red - its beautiful Just a quick hello really to let you know we've arrived safe and sound and to show you some photos of our stay so far.
We arrived in Perth at 12.30 at night after a day of traveling which wasnt too bad really. All our flights were on time and our longest stay at Singapore Airport was fine due to their excellent airport! They have a movie lounge, free Internet, pubs and restaurants throughout and of course excellent duty free shops!
We hadnt booked anywhere to stay in Perth thinking that because it was their Autumn (off peak season) the backpackers wouldnt be booked up but we were wrong! Every backpackers we called were fully booked - just what you need to hear after a day of traveling. We just needed a bed and to relax! But no panic, like I said in the last blog, we can handle things a lot better now. At the end of the day you know you are going to get somewhere to stay even if its just for the night so theres no need to stress about it. We called a Youth Hostel and they had a double room spare so thats
Perth City
Thsi was the view from our Youth Hostel were we headed....it was easy to get to. There was a shuttle bus waiting outside the airport to take travellers to their accommodation so it was pretty straight forward.
The Youth Hostel was clean and quite cheap so thats where stayed for the next 6 nights - we even had a TV and Fridge! Its always a bonus having a fridge, it means you can buy your own salad and sandwich stuff which will save you loads of money on food - and it means we can lose the few pounds we have put on whilst traveling! The next cheapest thing would be to eat at McDonalds every night and we dont want to be doing that! The only thing with the Youth Hostel is that it's 10 storeys high and there isnt a communal area for people to meet. There doesnt seem to be any backpackers there, the people all seem to be a bit weird! - like people that dont have jobs so they stay there coz its cheap and they have no where else to go. We saw some proper weirdos! So we figured, even though it was cheaper it was time to move to another
backpackers and meet some people.
Within hours of arriving at the new backpackers we had already met loads of new people - this is more like it! It was one of the girls last night so everyone was going out - we tagged along and it was a good night. There were people from Holland, France, Italy, Germany, Ireland and of course England - its so interesting to meet people from all over the world.
We are staying in the new backpackers for 2 nights - Fri and Sat and then my friend who is from New Zealand but is living in Perth will be picking us up on Sunday and we will be staying with her for 2 weeks which will save us a lot of dosh! I met here when I was in Australia last time - its been 4 years since I last saw her!
Money wise - Australia is alot more expensive than Thailand (but I think everywhere is!) but it is a lot cheaper than England. People had said that we would find it really difficult not to spend too much money when we came here coz we were used to going out eating
and drinking everynight and having whatever we wanted for next to nothing in Thailand but to be honest, because everything was so cheap over there everything here seems so expensive (even though its really not!) so we refuse to pay what we think is an expensive price so we dont buy it! (if that makes sense!)
Perth - We have so much to see! We have been staying in the city for the past week and just taking it easy really, we have lots of traveling ahead of us. Its a lovely, smallish city and we have enjoyed ourselfs but we cant wait to get to the coast again, already we are losing our tans - nooooooo!! The weather has been so hot - even hotter than Thailand! Its great!
Anyway, this was only meant to be a quick update but once again I have too much to say! I could go on and on when I write these blogs!
I have attached some photos for you - they're not that interesting but will give you and idea of what we've been up to so far....
