We took a short flight to Perth where Paul was re-united with his close friend Dean, after 8 years. Dean and Tania's (his wife) house is lovely and Paul was particularly happy as there seemed to be a fridge full of beer in each room.
We mainly spend the days sitting around the pool, basking in the sunshine. On Christmas Day we went to the beach, just because we could really. It was very surreal. As it was really hot in Perth, we thought that the only thing to do would be cook a full roast dinner for Christmas Day, which we did, including turkey, roast potatoes, stuffing and of course, brussel sprouts. Due to the fact that it was 40 degrees, I'm afraid to report I didn't manage my usual amount of potatoes. Sorry. All the food was eaten, though so it wasn't all bad!
I am now so up with technology that after huge explanations from my brother, I was able to use Dean's computer to "Skype" my mum. It's not as painful as it sounds. It meant that I was able to speak and see her and my family via a webcam and microphone on the
computer - it really made my day!
Boxing day go up to 45 degrees with a nice hot breeze (it was just like being having a hairdryer blown in your face) so again, we took respite by spending the day in the pool. It has been a hard slog in Perth, as you can see! It has been really nice having a break from hostels and spending some time in a proper house! Thank you Dean and Tania!!
