Just a quick update today.
Last Wednesday we decided to go on an afternoon coach trip to the Swan Valley and Caversham Wildlife Park. The Swan valley is very beautiful, full of vineyards and quaint farming properties.
The first stop of the tour was at a chocolate factory. I was quite disappointed here, as you could only look through a small window into the factory and couldn't really see much. We did get to taste some of the chocolate though which was probably the best part!
From the chocolate factory we went straight to Caversham Wildlife Park. I was really excited about going here as I've never seen Koalas or Kangaroos before. On the way into the park we actually got to see some Kangas in the wild!
The Koalas were one of the first things we saw in the park. We went on a guided tour, and after walking past a few cages of parrots, owls and cockatoos we were taken inside the koala inclosure. I was so excited as there were so many of them and we got to get right up close and stroke them (even though most of them were just sitting in
the trees sleeping).
We also got to get up close to a massive wombat called Big Bubb (he likes to be held like a baby) In the pictures he looks ugly, but actually he was really cute and soft.
Halfway through the tour we went to see a farm show, which showed us how they used the dogs to round up sheep and how you shear a sheep. They bought out really cute lambs that a couple of kids fed and then a cow which you could have a go at milking, I decided to give this a miss, as although it was really interesting, I have no plans to be a farmer or get anywhere near the underneath of a cow thank you.
Finally we were taken to the kangaroo enclosure. I was like a big kid, as was at the front of the queue for the food pellets infront with all the other children! This was my favourite part of the trip. The kangaroos were all really tame and ate the pellets out of our hands while allowing us to stroke them. They are so cute, and one of them even had a joey in
its pouch!
For the last part of the tour we saw dingos which are really gorgeous and tasmanian devils which are evil vicious looking things!
Back on the coach we headed towards Sandalford Winery, our last stop before heading home. The grounds are really beautiful and they sometimes put on concerts here.
We got to sample several different wines and a port from the state, all of which were really nice. Naturally I bought a couple of bottles (it would have been rude to go home empty handed) and we consumed one of them as soon as we got in.
Just as we were getting back onto the coach I got my first glimpse of the Black Swan that the river is named after! All in all, a very exciting day!
Maybe this wasn't such a quick update, but then I never have been very good at summarising....
xx
