Current Mood: Ready for work
Ok so Melbourne was a blast.. the drinks were finally killing me and my decision to leave was certain. Saying goodbye to Lewy and a few others myself and Anne jumped a shuttle bus to the airport where she would be heading to New Zealand and myself to see my cousin Chris in Perth. I couldn’t wait to take a little bit of rest from my week of binge drinking.
So the airport was dead quiet for a Friday night like normally there are people everywhere. Looking for the most comfortable bench Anne and I set our things up for a night of sleeping on airport floors. Oh the fun of backpacking. Don’t for one minute think I’m having fun at home guys!! It’s a hard long road.
With spats of nodding off and waking to the chill of airport air-conditioning the morning finally arrived, so giving Anne a big hug and a goodbye kiss on the cheek I set on my way to the check in gates for my flight to the Capital of WA. West side baby!! The check in was as normal and the flight was like any other. Virgin
Blue are a good airline in all.
Into the sky we were and not 4 hours later I was being greeted with a big ‘G’day from WA’ by me best mate ‘Jane Mate’. I love this girl more than freshly baked bread! She had plans and with our rumbling tummies we shot out for a ‘NO LUNCH BREAKFAST’ she took me to see her mom which was nice as I hadn’t seen her since I left Darwin and basically drove about Perth showing me the sights. Unfortunately necessities set in and accommodation was needed but after checking out Backpackers I decided I didn’t want to be staying in them knowing Chris lived near by. I hadn’t seen the lad in 2 years so I was dead keen to hang out with him for a while! So getting on the phone I arranged to meet him at his work place. The Stanford arms in Scarborough right on the beach. Man on a sunny day Scarborough is paradise. Rocking up at the Pub with Jane we went in to see Chris. He looked well and it was wicked to see him. We caught up for abit before emptying Jane’s car of
my belongings into his store room. Jane to see the Jack Johnson gig in Perth and I shot to the beach to kill some time before Chris finished up on his shift. That night we sat about the place drinking at his house and generally catching up whilst meeting his girlfriend and flat mates Whitney, Joe and Ashley. He had it set where he lived. They had a good sized house with a wicked pool/bar area where we could get blind without wrecking the house hahaha. The first week in Perth was a cruisey one to say the least. I was out in search of work mostly but on the inbetweens just chilled at the Beach with Chris and got to catch up with Jane and Matty for dinner a handful of times. Jane came drinking in Scarborough a few times but one particular night we got on it good style. She took me to her town of lederville which was just like running the gauntlet in Darwin. We both got absolutely smashed finding myself with no money in my pocket the following morning on her settee. I had to sit there all day waiting for a lift home as
I hadn’t a clue where I was or how to fix my problem hahaha great night Monkey can’t wait to see you again.
The second week things were beginning to get a little tedious on the work front. My ideas for staying in Perth were changing and I was thinking heavily about heading up the coast to Broome. I had to be that way anyway as my forward plans are to meet my brother Kieran and Pierre in Thailand so I need to be up this way to fly out in July. Id set my mind on flying out so I found myself a flight for two weeks later so in the means time I took a cheap holiday sitting in learning the Guitar and drinking when Chris said the bar was free or even better when the bottle shop was buy one bottle get a slab free. Two weeks of resting was a pain in the arse with money restrictions but great knowing I had work in Broome on arrival so relaxing wasn’t to much of a worry!
A great point in the two weeks rest was being invited to Janes moms for a monster feast. I
woke on the morning of the occasion to find Lakey, Jane and Flem all from Darwin at my door with plans of hitting the beach and drinking before the feast. Lakey is a funny bloke and it was sweet to catch up with the loose cannon. You never know what will happen when he is about but it seems Jane has tamed his ways so the meal went with out a hitch and we pleasantly got full and drunk slowly through the evening. Thanx for the food Gale it was lovely. Jane babe and Lakey… be seeing you again soon enough, goodluck in Albany! Flem.. catch you when I hit Darwin. Another great day was catching up with Rob. He was feeling good again after his op so we got a few freebees in at Chris’s pub before heading back with a few bottle shop deals and jamming on the Guitar. Cheers for the lessons man and good luck with your travels mate… hit me up when you’re in the UK I’ll set you up with a few mates.
So my final weekend in Perth was coming up and Chris had sorted me a ticket to Rottness island for
his Girlfriends and her twin brothers birthday. For now ill lay this blog to rest and will fill you in on my adventures of another island later in the week. Until then guys know I love you all at home.
Hope your all having a blast..
