This morning was the last dash to Perth, just 160 km away. I stopped on the way in at Perth Dive Academy to get myself kitted up with some equipment for when I go back to Exmouth. I soon found that Diving is like any other hobby you can just keep spending. There seems to be no limit to the kind of stuff you can have and for some reason the most expensive equipment always looks the best. (Funny that).
I was really good and left without buying anything, I did put quite a few things by for when I return though.
My Next stop was the car hire garage, as the car seems to be making some very strange noises when I turn corners. It turns out that there is no oil in the power steering, which was why everything was grinding. Luckily its not my fault as the power steering unit is meant to be sealed and need no attention. This worked out quite well as it saves me paying for car parking while in the city. I convinced the garage to keep the car for the two days that I will be in Perth.
I spent the rest of the day having a quick look round the city.
The YHA Hostel here is brand new and really really nice. It’s so new that you can still smell the plaster in the rooms and finishing touches are still being made. This does mean that I have managed to find three good hostels in a row!!!
This morning I woke to rain and lots of it. I soon discovered that when rain falls out of the sky at the rate is does in WA you can do nothing but stay inside and watch it.
I did manage to achieve one thing and that was sort my ears out. Ever since I have been diving I have had earache, now hoping that it wasn't anything serious I thought I better get it checked out. Bloody doctors over here are no more efficient as I had to wait for 30 minutes after my appointment time and I get slammed with a bill for $55 for the privilege. He did manage to solve the problem. It seems that 3 weeks of diving most days is a little unusual for most people. The pressure from the water had pushed all my earwax deep into my ears causing pressure. With no let up as I was diving every day and had pressure on my ears everyday it had put to much pressure on my ear causing it to hurt. Luckily it was soon sorted out. I left with a prescription for eardrops should I need them. At nearly $100 I definitely wont need them!!
