22-11-09 Den headed off to the V8’s & he had a great day seeing Craig Lowndes win his race. (go the Fords) The track is about 70 km away & he had a bit of trouble finding it, but after a few wrong turns he made it. It is warmer today, about 25 deg, so I decided to clean the van & then after lunch I had a rest in the sun & then worked on the computer for a while until Den got home, a pretty quiet day . Merry text me & we arranged to Skype each other later, It was great to talk to her & see a familiar face, Jim & Merry have just got back from Lord Howe Island & had a great time. Kirsty rang & we talked about how much Riley had grown, he has 5 teeth now. By the time we see him he will be walking. We had Steak, eggs, tomatoes, potatoes, beans & mushroom sauce for tea, I had an early night & slept well again (yeah).
23-11-09 Monday again, the weeks are going so fast, I am not even thinking of xmas, it will be so strange without the
Kids, Grandkids, Great-grandchild & all the family around us, will face that day when we come to it. We decided to go into Perth city & see Kings Park & the Botanical Gardens, the day was warm & sunny & ended up being 30 deg. We set off & caught the train into Perth (nice trains NSW could learn a thing or two from Perth) , Then we caught a FREE BUS (yes for tourists) to Kings Park which is also free. We got a map from the info centre & we did not realise how big the Park is, so we decided to do the Botanical Gardens first & see about the rest another day maybe. We had a great view of the Swan River & Perth from the Park We had a coffee before we started in the Café there, very nice & started on our way. Well talk about a florist in heaven , I cant believe I made Den stop all those times to get pics of the wildflowers beside the road , they were all in the park (nearly all of them, anyway) We both had a delightful time wandering through, over a glass bridge
& looking at the waterfalls, flowers, bushes & trees all set in great parkland. We missed some of it as my feet & back were playing up, so we headed back to the café & both got a salad roll & sat under the tree’s overlooking the Swan River & had a rest. We then wandered through the War Memorial at the Park & then we headed back to the FREE BUS & then to see The Perth Mint, We took a tour & saw how the gold was melted into bars & saw gold nuggets, coins , jewellery it was very interesting. We then went across the road had a drink at the Grosvenor Pub in the outside Garden, then caught the train home, The girls were so pleased to see us as they had been in the van for 8 hours, but they were good. We had Lamb Salad for tea & watched TV. Had a text from Brett & Kara they are back in Wollongong & staying at the Shellharbour Van Park , they fly out on the 30th Nov for 6 weeks to spend xmas in Vancouver. We also spoke to Marg & Warwick, they are
well & have to be out of the house by the end of November.
24-11-09 Today, I did not sleep well last night, I don’t know why, we did washing, shopping & had Dr’s appointments for blood test results . Den had a CT scan last Sat, he has to see a Gastroenterologist & have a colonoscopy on Thursday, there was a thickening of the bowel & the Dr wants to check it out. He does not think its anything but better to be safe than sorry. He has to see a Haematologist on the 8-12-09 to see why his ferritin is so high, its just a little hiccup. All will be well, we may have to stay in Perth for a little longer. We have to keep a Diary there are so many appointments, we don’t want to over book. We really feel like pensioners now. Den has to go on a really yucky diet till Thursday till his test, so don’t think we will be doing too much tomorrow & Thursday, will let you know how things go. Well must go & watch “The Rafters’” Catch you soon .
