After another long day in the car we arrived at Perth late on Friday afternoon. With laptop working hard and girls getting wrestles in the back seat we struggled to find a caravan park on the Anzac day long weekend. After some thorough searching we were able to locate a park in Swan Valley so headed directly there.
After set up and clean up we decided to head out for some dinner. We circled the suburbs hunting for somewhere to eat. Why is it that when you want to find a pub or a restaurant or anywhere you can’t when you need to? Anyway we finally pondered upon an Italian restaurant and appeased our insatiable appetites with lots of pizza.
The next morning we set out to explore Perth. We began our morning at a beautiful park on the Swan Lake where Joey, Heidi and friends had gathered to celebrate Heidi’s 30th Birthday. We enjoyed some tasty food and coffee and the kids had a great play.
Next we headed to Perth to check out the city centre. Strolling through the city with the girls was not the most enjoyable task but we did manage to find a
pancake parlour and enjoyed lunch over pancakes and maple syrup.
Our final stop for our tour of Perth was Kings Park. We were all amazed by Kings Park, it’s location, size and facilities. It is a wonderful display of gardens, playgrounds, walkways , water features, beautiful views and so much more. The playgrounds were amazing. The girls would have played there all day if we had of let them. They were definitely able to give those legs a workout after several long days in the car. After much chasing around the playground we ventured to the other side of the park to the Botanic Gardens Board Walk. We were treated to spectacular views of the city and Swan River as well as the beautiful garden surrounds. The girls enjoyed racing along the pathways as if they were in a garden maze.
On the way back to the van we picked up some fresh prawns and treated ourselves to a seafood feast. A great way to top off a big day in Perth.

Two days of white line fever later and were pulling into Perth, mobile phones are going nuts trying to download a couple
of weeks worth of messages and Caz is on the net in the navigators seat trying to hook up a site in Perth on a long weekend. Luckily whereis knew the location of the Swan Valley caravan park, because I had no idea. The park was pretty average...I’m not to keen on living directly under high voltage power lines and the Perth International approach path, and I’m sure the curfew was broken at least once in those few days. After a week in the desert we did pizza and pasta, was pretty crappy but still it was better than the Norseman roadhouse. We consulted the all knowing whereis once more to find the location of Heidi’s 30th bash, at a park in the ritzy suburbs of Perth. Caught up with the crew and all the girls, Caz had a “real” coffee and I had a morning beer, not bad at all. We did the downtown Perth shops, ie we wondered aimlessly around a city in which we had no idea where anything was, or what we actually wanted, I’m told it’s called shopping! We did manage to find a tasty pancake then decided we’d had enough of city life and
decided to head north.
