I've been in hiding at the Wanderer Inn, Bunbury for the last week.
To avoid being detected I had to limit email, facebook and blog updates. It was hard but a necessity to keep my identity hidden... the consequences... well that doesn't bear thinking about! But now I've emerged and headed south to Margaret River where I can live it up in the land of the vineyard.
Well almost true. I was less in hiding and more just plain lazy. I'd arrived in Perth on the 29th November late after my flight was delayed twice, first from a thunder storm and second from lack of a cabin crew.
It was about two on the Sunday morning that i finally got to lay my head down and get some shut eye. Although that too was hard due to the fact that the 'mixed' 8 bed dorm I was placed in contained 7 guys and the smell was not close to unbearable. Luckily I only had two nights there and would be glad to leave on the monday morning, especially after seeing the pile of porn on the computer desk!
On the one day I had in Perth I spent half of it shopping and the other half in the pub. It was a sunday after all I the afternoon sess is an important one! I sampled some of the regional beer, but was surprised to find out it was almost twice as expensive in Perth as in Sydney....eek!
I got on the bus the next morning feel rather hungover and promptly feel asleep. Although its a tour bus I wasn't very interested in seeing anything. The tour is 3 days or can be used as a hop-on-hop-off bus and works out easier than booking separate tickets for each area. I got of the bus at Bunbury.
There isn't much to do in Bunbury really... not in terms of sights and such. There is the beach and the dolphin centre and I did both in one day. But the hostel was great and the people friendly. I could easily sit outside all day and usually did. The weather wasn't always great but there were a few really nice days and the rest weren't that bad.... suited me anyway as meant it wasn't too hot and I could cope.
The last day I spent the morning at one beach and then with 3 cars full of people from the hostel we headed over to another beach where I played in the waves with one of those huge rubber rings... it was great fun.
I had such a good time that I've booked into there for christmas so i'll be somewhere I know people.
I've travelled down to margaret river to check out some sights and will be here for the next week. Fruit picking season is late this year because of the wet weather so there isn't that work but i could try for hospitality work. But since i'm going back up for christmas I'm undecided. This is why I named this entry - in need of a plan! There are many options and at some point I like the look of all of them. I am aware however that accomation is more expensive than expected and I that not having a car is restricting. So far I have been lucky and can often join up with others for trips out. And then for work a car would make it easier. And then if i got a camper i could even stay in it. But even with a car I could stay at camp sites. But with or without a car I need to decide where to look for work. Do I stay in Bunbury or head down to Margaret river. And for how long do I stay. What happens if I make the wrong decision. If I buy a car and it breaks down. Or I cant get any work. And then I get kidnapped by a koala. And taken to a place which doesn't have real coffee... only this powdery crap which tastes like soil.
