Bereits nach 45 Km erreichen wir das verschlafene Mt. Barker, inmitten von Farmen und Wald. Nur ein weiteres Zentrum der in dieser Region typischen Landwirtschaftsindustrie. Rund um das kleine Städtchen verteilt liegen Farmen, Weingüter, Farmen, endlose Wälder, Farmen und das obligatorische Buschland. Wir machen kurz Rast und erfahren von dem beeindruckenden Porengorup Nationalpark mit seinen abstrakten Felsformationen etwa 20 Minuten entfernt von Mt. Barker. Also fahren wir das kleine Stück und wandern anschließend noch etwa ein ein-halb Stunden bis auf das Hochplateau. Ein toller Ausblick auf das umliegende Flachland das sich in schier endlose Weiten vor uns ausbreitet, erweitert unseren Horizont einmal mehr. Wednesday 6 th April With the car fixed we travelled about 450klms to Port Augusta and pulled into the (Top Tourist) Shoreline Caravan Park late in the afternoon - the park was nearly full - we had a choice of 2 spots (neither of them designated sites). One was a piece of desert at the back and the other was what they called the rose garden as it was actually a drive way but it did have water and power so we took this site for 2 days (and stayed an extra day to get organised to head to Coober Pedy on Saturday) with the option of moving in the morning but we decided to stay put as we had shade on both sides with lawn at different times of the day. We settled into the Ceduna Airport CP - not the best maintained park but plenty of room with a lot of overnighters staying - the other better parks were booked out, but with our own toilet and shower it was OK and we had plenty of room to move (the other caravan parks were very full and crowded). John checked with the Toyota dealer and has booked the car in on Monday to have it checked out. We met a couple from Thornlie at a service station across the Nullabour and met them again at a rest stop and then they arrived at the same caravan park as us - Peter and Dianne - had a few drinks with them.
