Another working week so if you are looking for a TravelBlog don’t read this. Also, no photos this week as I didn’t take my camera anywhere.
It’s cold when I wake at half seven so I hit snooze and roll over. It’s 09h30 when I next check my phone and I was meant to start work at nine. I do manage to work 10h00 – 17h00
, Kim and Julie are out of town and I have a clipboard of jobs to keep me busy.
Making a sandwich for dinner and Regan sends me a text in Afrikaans. I call and end up taking a ride over there with bread and cutlery. She wants to know what answer I found to her question. She finds my donated clothing funny as it’s not an exact fit. Relaxed with wine I carry her to bed and then have to make the bed under her. Including the bottom sheet.
Early start, I need to pick Pegan up at 08h00 to be in Ledge by 08h30. First day the cafe is open. Work 08h30 - 16h30
, mostly at the shop, then a little afterwards running errands for Kim.
Manage to squeeze in a run with Regan before the sun goes down. Ends with me pinned to the ground while she claims victory by sitting on my chest and licking her ear
(she licks her ear). She cooks us lasagne for dinner and we play Scrabble cards until her show starts. Afterwards we curl up on the sofa until well after I should have left already.
I sneak around to 19 Horton to wake Regan up. Cold hands, warm... Pie for breakfast. Run some errands for Kim and pick Regan up as I head to the cafe. Work 08h30-16h00
at the cafe as a handyman/kitchen hand.
A bike ride up to the lookout to take pictures of the sunset. Regan takes pictures, I mostly watch the ocean (Regan: he snoozed on the bench) and use Regan to warm my hands. Home for a hot shower and a bite before taking some boardgames over for Regan. We sit and talk until her TV starts and I leave.
Blog Hijack!! My day according to Regan.
I once again wake Regan up. When will I learn. Have to drive to cafe. 40km/hr... indicate 350m before turnoff. Prance around for most of the morning while Regan is run off her feet. I take well to my daily duties of becoming SENIOR ‘dish pig’. I get shown by Regan how to make the perfect coffee (she is a genius) and I try my luck, but I will need more practice. When we finish at 3.30 I drive (driving to and from cafe – I am lucky today) to the industrial estate and dump Regan . She can run home. After doing another job for Kim (I glued something) I go over to Horton Way and rub it in that, quote ‘It’s not like I’ve had a very busy day’.
Maybe I should go over and wake Regan up? I don’t feel that brave. I do a job for Kim, collect bread and pies for Julie, fill the car with fuel and get to Regan at the same time as Julie. No doubt Regan would write this as me ‘flitting around town’.
Regan and I are running the cafe today and we have Winnie in to help us for the morning. Amanda shows up to prep things for the weekend. It’s a quiet day, with a few mad rushes, so even though I work 08h30 – 16h30
with a couple of breaks I only charge Julie for four hours of my time.
Regan and I had plans for tonight (pancakes and alcohol), but she’s been feeling ill all day and blows me off in favour of medication and sleep. She does send me a text to steal yet another point.
I try to remove an ant colony from my laptop. Despite living in a workshop I can’t find any electrical screwdrivers, only knives and hatchets. Maybe because it’s an Australian workshop?
Work 09h00 – 16h00
with a bread run and collecting Regan. She doesn’t let me drive. It’s Julie, Regan and myself in the cafe today, Richard is in for a while to help. We keep busy.
Regan is still sick, but she’s willing to risk death in order to indulge in wine and pancakes. She jokes that I should steal some clothes that actually fit me. She looks about my size. I beat her at Uno before she crawls into bed to die.
– $49 kiss
First Sunday for the Kombi Café
. Work 09h30 – 16h30
and it’s a busy day. My cold is getting worse. Regan and I get a bottle of red on the way home and I go around hers for dinner. Vegetarian misc and pancakes. The plan is to watch a movie, but it’s early so we play Monopoly. I win. By the time we finish we’re both tired. It’s not even nine pm. Regan kicks me out so she can go to bed.
